Before and afters from this week's job 📸

This one was hard going! Loads of old wallpaper to get off first (lots of layers of it) 🥵 The walls underneath were in a pretty sorry state so there was plenty of filling, sanding, scraping, more filling and sanding. Even the customer chipped in and helped at one point to get us back on track! 👏

A stabilising solution was applied to all the walls to give us a nice uniform surface to paint and paper over and to ensure an even porosity everywhere then we finally got to it 🎨

All woodwork finished in Crown Fastlflow Satin White

Paint is Crown vinyl matt colour matched to Farrow & Ball - 'Skimming Stone'

Last job was the wooden panel style paper on the feature wall. Ready for the new carpet, another happy customer! 🏠 🖌

🏡 Job Showcase: Lounge, Dining Room & Hallway Refresh

Just finished this one in a bungalow and it was a proper prep job from start to finish.

Big open areas, loads of woodwork to fill, sand and paint, some fresh plaster that needed mist coating, and ceilings that needed bringing back to life before any colour went near the walls.

✅ Woodwork prepped and painted throughout ready for new doors to be fitted

✅ Ceilings refreshed
✅ Walls finished in two gorgeous Crown colours

🛠️ Room transformation, done properly.

This one needed more than a lick of paint. The ceiling had seen better days — rather than advising re-plastering, I filled and sanded it back to a smooth, paint-ready finish. Saved the cost, kept the finish sharp. ✅

🪵 Woodwork prepped and refreshed in Crown Fast Flow White Satin — crisp, durable, and built to last.

🧱 Walls were the real prep job: filled, sanded, and sealed with a stabilising solution to get them ready for the patterned wallpaper. No shortcuts on prep means no problems once the paper's up.

This is the bit people don't see in before/afters — but it's the difference between a job that looks good today and one that still looks good in five years.🖌️

🖌️ Before any paint goes on, here's what's already happened on site.

🛡️ Floors protected
🧺 Kitchen fully sheeted up
🔍 Old peeling paint scraped back to sound material
🧱 Walls filled, sanded, filled again, sanded again — until they're actually flat

None of it's glamorous. But it's most of the job, and it's what decides whether the paintwork looks good for years or starts showing problems within months. ⏳

Skip this stage and you can still get a nice-looking finish for a while — until that peeling paint comes back through, or that wall shows every lump under the light. 💡

It takes longer to get to that first coat this way, but that's the proper way to do it and it's the way I'll approach your job every single time.

Not every job is about a dramatic before and after. 🖌️

This one's a good example. Have a look at these photos and you'll struggle to spot much difference between before and after — same colour scheme, same layout, nothing radically changed. And that's exactly what the customer wanted. They loved the room, it just needed refreshing after years of wear.

What the camera doesn't show you is how much prep went in underneath to get there. 👀

This was a full week's work:

🔧 Filled, sanded, and re-sanded all the woodwork
🔧 Scraped out several cracks running around the room
🔧 Removed old screws and curtain poles
🔧 Filled and sanded every crack and hole in the walls
🔧 Sealed the whole lot with a stabilising solution to create one uniform surface to paint onto
🔧 Stain blocked a few marks on the ceiling before painting it
🔧 Two coats on all the woodwork
🔧 Two coats on every wall colour

The result is a room that's cleaner, crisper, and fresher — even if it looks "the same" in a photo. That's the bit that matters most to the person actually living in it.

Not every job needs to look impressive online to be a Fine Finish. Sometimes the biggest transformation is one only the customer notices every single day. 😊
