Oooooph, time flies! It's already two weeks ago that I worked with these smashing girls, weaving these - what will be - bread trays.

This workshop was a private session I helped Kate's friends design for her birthday and it was a great success. We all had a lovely afternoon in the conservatory amongst the colourful bunting.

Private workshops have been very popular the last two years. You can decide what you'd like to weave and when. Much easier to fit into the diary and you can be yourselves amongst family or your besties.

Basket weaving is much more than simply making a basket. The process encourages us to work with our head, heart and hands together. It asks us to observe carefully, think practically, solve problems creatively and work rhythmically with natural materials.

Many people find weaving deeply absorbing. Hours can pass unnoticed as hands become familiar with the willow and attention settles on the task at hand. In a world increasingly dominated by screens and constant distraction, basketry offers a rare opportunity to slow down, focus and reconnect.

Working alongside others also creates space for conversation, shared learning and the simple pleasure of spending time with like-minded people. It is a wonderfully grounding experience that nourishes both mind and spirit.

Half-day or day basketry workshops can be for 6 of you, but if you'd like to do regular sessions and weave a basket in stages spread over 3 two-hour sessions or two three-hour ones, then groups of 10 people is possible. You'll be weaving with willow, hedgerow or rattan.

Just have a look on my website and get inspired or book, and we'll discuss the details of how you'd like your session(s) to be tailored.

Weaving Beyond the Basics: An Intermediate Willow Basketry Workshop

There’s something deeply satisfying about moving beyond the basics in basketry — when weaving begins to flow, techniques become more refined and each basket develops its own character.

This new intermediate willow basketry workshop is designed for those who already have some experience with stake and strand weaving and are ready to learn more.

Together we’ll explore Catalan based baskets, scalloming, fitching made easy, side weaving techniques and beautiful traditional borders in a peaceful countryside setting in Kent and East Sussex.

A day of slow making, natural materials and immersive craft learning.

Small groups | Individual guidance | All materials included

If you’ve been wanting to develop your weaving skills further, I’d love to welcome you.

Looking for something genuinely enriching for children this half term — away from screens, full of creativity, and wonderfully mindful?
🍀
I’m delighted to be collaborating with Kent & East Sussex Railway for a special day of willow weaving workshops on 27th May at Tenterden Station.
🎈
Children aged 8–12 can weave a beautiful dragonfly, while 12–15 year olds can create a traditional bird feeder — learning an ancient craft through structured, hands-on sessions that encourage focus, patience, dexterity and independence.
🍀
These workshops are about far more than making something lovely to take home. Willow weaving is calming, restorative and deeply absorbing — a rare opportunity for children to slow down, work creatively with their hands, and experience the satisfaction of making something from natural materials.
🎈
And for adults? The railway suggests combining the workshop with a nostalgic steam train journey through the beautiful Wealden countryside to Bodiam — a wonderful outing for parents, carers and grandparents alike. Children attending a workshop travel FREE when accompanied by a fare-paying adult or senior.
🍀
A memorable day of creativity, connection, heritage and countryside adventure.

⏱Dragonfly workshop: approx. 1 hour
⏱Bird feeder workshop: approx. 2 hours
