Oooooph, time flies! It's already two weeks ago that I worked with these smashing girls, weaving these - what will be - bread trays.
This workshop was a private session I helped Kate's friends design for her birthday and it was a great success. We all had a lovely afternoon in the conservatory amongst the colourful bunting.
Private workshops have been very popular the last two years. You can decide what you'd like to weave and when. Much easier to fit into the diary and you can be yourselves amongst family or your besties.
Basket weaving is much more than simply making a basket. The process encourages us to work with our head, heart and hands together. It asks us to observe carefully, think practically, solve problems creatively and work rhythmically with natural materials.
Many people find weaving deeply absorbing. Hours can pass unnoticed as hands become familiar with the willow and attention settles on the task at hand. In a world increasingly dominated by screens and constant distraction, basketry offers a rare opportunity to slow down, focus and reconnect.
Working alongside others also creates space for conversation, shared learning and the simple pleasure of spending time with like-minded people. It is a wonderfully grounding experience that nourishes both mind and spirit.
Half-day or day basketry workshops can be for 6 of you, but if you'd like to do regular sessions and weave a basket in stages spread over 3 two-hour sessions or two three-hour ones, then groups of 10 people is possible. You'll be weaving with willow, hedgerow or rattan.
Just have a look on my website and get inspired or book, and we'll discuss the details of how you'd like your session(s) to be tailored.
