I am the founder & maker behind Hi Cacti, which I started in 2015. Hi Cacti is a cactus concept shop; specializing in easy care indoor plants, south by southwestern home decor, & botanical gifts. My business & brand is inspired by my 'Tex-Mex' roots from my hometown Austin, Texas and from my road trips and adventures around Mexico and the American Southwest. Our brick & mortar shop off the Seven D
ials in Brighton is female run and our concrete pottery is made by ourselves at our workshop in the North Lanes. Personally, I'm into nurturing and styling cacti and houseplants, crafting, 80's music, tacos, travel, a damn fine cup of coffee, vintage shopping, and I'm usually found with my wire-haired dachshund pup Otto by my side and in colourful jumpsuits covered in concrete and soil. I started Hi Cacti while living in the UK in 2015, when I began making my colourful concrete pots as cacti planters. The designs and colours I choose for my pots were inspired specifically by visiting colourful concrete Mexican cemeteries, but also my studies in Latin American art at The University of Texas. However my own personal appreciation and love of Mexican culture and aesthetics was cultivated by my formative years and life growing up in Austin, which is a diverse, colorful, musical and open minded city fused with Mexican culture and history, as Texas was previously part of Mexico. Hence Tex-Mex represents more then just a type of food in my hometown, it reflects the vibrant culture too. Though my handmade concrete pots for succulents and cactus were our first products, Hi Cacti has grown to include other locally made botanical gifts and art, a huge range of plant pots, and handmade and imported Mexican, Native American and southwestern home decor. My goal through Hi Cacti's designs and handmade collections is to bring happiness, vibrance, and flare into your space with our easy care indoor plants, botanics, and home goods inspired by the Southwest & Mexico to bring the 'mi casa es su casa' vibe to your home.
