Hove remodelling project. Denim and Gauze Grey painted custom kitchen teamed with Calacatta Gold worktop, Quooker Matt black boiler tap, black PVD sink, Elica induction hob, brass k***s, handles and switches by Dowsing&reynolds. ‘Snug’ with custom cabintery, knurled brass light fittings to match k***s, handles and switches. Seating by Habitat and Snug. Rear garden redesign with bespoke garden office finished in blue-grey wood cream by Rubio Monocoat. Shelter for hot tub. Lighting by Astrolight.

We met with Sam to discuss rationalising the design of our somewhat unusual 1930’s detached house. The priority being to improve the functionality of the property for busy family life. Following initial meetings, we chose Sam to lead the architectural design for the following reasons –
1. His personal conceptual understanding of what we were trying to achieve and turning that understanding into sensible design ideas. Essentially, he “got” us more than other architects who we had approached, their offering seemed much more functional and less bespoke.
2. His use of 3D goggles and the latest design packages which really brough his drawings to life and provided us with clarity on what the design would be like once completed.
3. His preference for design and products which would reduce the impact on environment.
4. Clear understanding of the design process.
Sam set about producing three functional designs which we worked through together. Sam used his insight, knowledge, and experience of other projects to guide us to the design we all believed would work best for us. Throughout the process, Sam kept the project budget at the forefront of his mind, advising us not only of the design impact but also the effect to the budget any changes would make.
We worked efficiently through the design process, effectively using remote meeting software when we could not be in the same room for regular design review meetings.
Once the design was finalised, it moved smoothly through the planning permission phase without issue.
Sam is supported by a good group of suppliers who added their expertise to the design in terms of the structural requirements and mechanical and electrical design.
I would have no hesitation in recommending Sam and Bavian design to others.”
