07. BUBBLE

Day seven of peachtober is bubble! How many types of bubbles can you see? 🫧

I enjoyed this one more than the others so far. The first few are traditional gouache with pencil and crayon, the last two acrylic gouache with pencil and crayon. I’ve used traditional gouache for years, but never acrylic! I just wasn’t getting the look or layering I wanted so I thought I’d try the Holbein acrylic gouache that loads of people seem to use. This whole month is a dedication to experimentation for me, to getting out my comfort zone, getting back into traditional materials, and figuring some things out. I made no promises to myself other that to turn up and make everyday, experiment, and see. So far the way I’ve made each of these has been different, though I get that might not come across 😅

06. PLUM

Day six of peachtober is plum! I’ll admit, when I sketched this one I was imagining it in colour with a beautiful deep plum sky. I think in colour so limiting myself to black and white is a challenge! Also I’m trying out a bunch of new materials in a return to traditional mediums at the same time, apparently I like to compound my difficulties 🤷‍♀️ (actually if you know me, that’s probably not surprising 🤦‍♀️). Not sure I’m liking anything yet, but I’m having fun and learning/relearning a load 🤓✏️🖌️🖍️ Also why is the pencil emoji left handed but the paintbrush and crayon right handed?!? 🧐

04. SPELL

Day four of peachtober is spell, and these girls are conjuring some animal spirits to help them make trouble. Not really happy with any of these at the moment, but it’s good to have something that makes you do the work everyday and push yourself…

03. MOOSE

Day three of peachtober is moose! Did you fixate on something as a kid and just want to know everything about that thing? I definitely had a few obsessions, not moose personally, but I can relate, they’re definitely curious, quirky beasts 🫎

02. CHIMNEY

Day two of peachtober and for this prompt I just kinda ran with the idea of teeny tiny dragons living in toasty warm chimneys. Obviously they wouldn’t live in any old chimneys, they’d defo go for fancy ones! So here we are, and let’s be honest who knows what’s living in the chimneys 🤷‍♀️ There could be anything up there. Though round my way anything up round the chimneys is definitely competing with seagulls and crows. Just as well these guys breathe fire I guess 🐉✨

01. OAK

It is that time of year again! The time when thousands of creators around the world attempt various October art challenges. For many years I’ve been a dedicated, but failed acolyte of the peachtober challenge. This year I will once again be participating in, (and hopefully completing) this daily challenge unless/until my shrimp back gives way. Think of me, check in with your art friends, if you don’t hear from us don’t worry, we’re probably just still shrimped over our desks 🦐🦐🦐
