I sow my sweet peas in autumn which is why they are already out providing amazing colour and scent to the meadow. I have some very beautiful ones this year, some of which look like they have been painted by hand. Which is your favourite?

Two gorgeous bespoke bouquets out the door today. One for a birthday and one for someone who hasn’t received flowers for 8 years and their friend thought that needed to change, isn’t that lovely! I just love the ‘bounce’ that you get from early summer flowers, so much movement in a single bouquet.

The poppies are looking fantastic in the meadow this week. They all self seeded so I haven’t had to do anything other than dodge around them with my other flowers, to try and give them some space to shine. The bees absolutely love them (turn the volume up and hear the nature all around). Which are your favourite, the ruffled ones or the more simple single petal variety?

All set up and the bees have found my flowers already.

I’ll be this Saturday with lots of gorgeous seasonal bouquets and cut flower plants so you can grow your own at home. All flowers and plants are grown by me in the heart of Bristol: zero air miles, zero chemicals, zero pesticides … just natural sustainable methods that are good for the plants and good for wildlife increasing biodiversity in my local community. Come along 08:30 - 13:00 and say hi.

The bold blue of the Irises are shining through this week. Their colour is so intense they just pop in any bouquet. I do very little to these plants, just digging up and dividing once every few years, but they keep coming back year on year without fail. The best bit is the bees absolutely love them!

Another batch of seeds starting off to make sure that I don’t have gaps in the month without flowers. This time I’m succession sowing zinnias, cosmos, corncockles, chickpeas and helichrysum in the hope that the blooms will keep coming.

I just love a ranunculus! They look like a cross between a rose and a peony but come out a bit earlier than both. The corms (a bit like a bulb) were planted in autumn in small trays and once they sprouted they were potted on into bigger pots, looked after in the greenhouse and then planted out at the beginning of the year. I think they are worth the wait, do you agree?
