Meet Toby, a Bichon Frise. A curly PawTrait, needing some dedicated fur brushes! These are created using Zbrush software on the computer, 3D printed and handpainted.

I have a long creative history that has taken me from art school, to crafts and jewellery making in bronze and painting.

I love painting the PawTraits, it’s the final part of the process, where I get to bring the PawTrait to life and add the character of the pet.

When I put the brushes down, I like nothing more than a good walk with my dog, a good book and an occasional pint!

Meet Cassie, who sadly is no longer here. Her owner, Rich thought a PawTait would create a lovely memorial.

We needed to work with photos Rich already had, which can be challenging if there are any missing angles. This PawTrait was also challenging because of the fur, we have a number of fur brushes in ZBrush we use for this. We were really pleased with the end result and even more pleased that Rich was happy!

Review: 'Customer service was great, kept up to date. Final print was awesome, the images I provided weren’t perfect for 3D modelling, as Cassie is no longer with us, however, the print was easily recognisable'.

Say hi to Alex, one of our digital 3D Modellers (we use ZBrush digital sculpting tool, to design each PawTrait).

I am one of the digital modellers in charge of sculpting your pet on the computer in a 3D software called ZBrush, before it is sent for printing. Coming from a Product Design background I can utilise my understanding of 3D design to produce 3D Pawtraits.

My favourite thing about the process is adding the final details to a model, ensuring the pets character is portrayed through the screen. Then of course seeing the final design. Once it has been printed and hand painted my Geoff. It finally comes to life!

A fun personal fact is I can do a backflip on a wakeboard!

When I'm not sculpting any Pawtraits I enjoy playing football, surfing and wakeboarding (when I can). I also like to play video games too.

From the streets of Malaga to the bright lights of Bristol, Luna came to us from the charity Leash for Life.

Cute points: she has very soft fur and people still think she’s a puppy (she’s 5). Standing on her back legs to get cuddles from strangers! Lying her head on your lap and looking at you doe-eyed!She’s a flirt, so makes a good sales assistant in the shop.

Misadventures: Barking at airplanes, chasing squirrels, standing on her back legs like a meerkat, barking, gutter snaffling and running away!

We thought it was time to meet some of the faces behind 3D PawTraits. So here is the Founder, Mark.

Mark started his creative journey studying fine art at Chelsea School of Art and Design, followed by stints as a furniture designer, retail designer and then finding his true passion, product design.

He founded the Laboratory of Things (LAB), his sustainable products brand in 2019, which ignited his passion for incorporating 3D printing technologies into product design.

Mark is passionate about trying new techniques and using innovative and sustainable materials. After years of painting animal portraits for friends and family, he thought it would be a fun idea to incorporate his 3D design and printing skills to create 3 dimensional pet portraits.

Ru lives round the corner from our shop in Bristol with his owners Mike and Pete, so we had the pleasure of meeting them all! It was a melt the heart meeting with Ru, so sweet and gentle and Luna liked him too!

`We were passing the shop and saw the examples of the 3D dogs, and decided there and then to get one done of our Jack Russell, Ru. We are so glad we did it, we love it! The likeness and quality are amazing, and knowing it's made from recycled materials makes it even better. We have recommended PawTraits to all our friends and family with dogs'
