Broom Making Workshops!! 🍁

Join me this Friday 4 September at Glastonbury Abbey to make your own heritage crafted hand broom!

Perfect for beginners, students will learn the fundamentals of hand tied brooms using preindustrial heritage craft methods (no glue, no electricity).

Two sessions to choose from - morning and afternoon - classes are small to ensure each student receives support.

All tools and materials provided - students choose broom shape and twine colour, and will learn the three main steps to broom tying used globally.

Your instructor Jamie Dun is a member of Heritage Craft and was named one of 40 Best Artisans by Country Living Magazine. She teaches workshops all over the West Country and beyond and is passionate about teaching the technical foundation of true broom making.

Perfect for beginners 18+ with good dexterity in both hands and feet. Should be able to sit for up to an hour and be comfortable working in socks or bare feet.

OH TEAR UP FESTIVAL!

What a fun weekend - thank you so much for having me!

I met people from all over the world and really enjoyed teaching broom workshops! Thank you to all my students and to everyone else who bought materials - y’all wiped out my stash!

The farm is beautiful - what a view of the reservoir and the sound of chatty geese. I loved striking our tent as the moon rose - enjoying two stunning sunrises - and the rain was actually refreshing (before Sunday evening’s deluge anyway)!

What an array of weekend workshops on offer - good food, good music and so many connections made!

I met and worked alongside such talented and skilful makers! It was quite surreal meeting some of my IG heroes and reconnecting with others I’d not seen in an age!

The spirit of the people, the fun of it all, the skill sharing, inspiring creativity, finding new sources for tools and the smell of the willow in Tent 1 made for a weekend I won’t soon forget.

The bonus was spending two nights under the canvas catching up with one of my oldest, dearest and craziest friends (and she knows I need to be bossed around and managed!) she’s been bitten by a weaving bug after attending several weekend workshops and I just cannot thank her enough: Claire - I am so grateful for the love and friendship all these years 🩷

Let’s do it again!!

Out of Office - I’m away at Green Man Festival with friends from Thursday 20 August to recharge the batteries.

Lots of emails and packages going out today - the last of the spring commissions should be in the post next week.

New projects like my collaboration with Potclays Ltd. and Frontier and a custom dyed double ceremony wedding order is on the bench next!

I’m teaching at Tear Up on 29&30 August and Glastonbury Abbey on 4 September (check my website for details)!

And our first huge pallet of broomcorn is due to arrive any minute!
