A jewellery box commissioned by a mother as a wedding gift for her daughter and partner. The couple are keen rock climbers so the idea was to create a safe place where their wedding bands could be stored whilst they're away adventuring β°οΈπ§π»ββοΈπ
A double fishermans knot, which is used to tie two pieces of rope together, is symbolic of the couples joint love of climbing and the outdoors, as well as the obvious marital tying the knot
The rock inspired carving/textures continue to the inside of the box where there are two designated spots for the wedding bands to be kept, with additional storage to the sides and base. Additionally, a place for a note from the parents, perhaps with some marital wisdom, was worked into the lid so I can be ready every time it's opened.
The box was hand carved from a single piece of oak. A wood renowned for its strength, durability and stability. Congrats Bec & Byron, cheers to a lifetime of adventures together ππΎπ₯
