Our latest project for Mokoko opened earlier this week at The Hangar, part of the new Brabazon development in Bristol. It’s been a long time in the making and we’ve loved watching this remarkable building take shape over the last couple of years ✨
Mokoko now occupies part of a former aircraft hangar built in 1915. Today, this Grade II–listed structure has been carefully reimagined as a community hub at the heart of what is set to become the UK’s largest brownfield development. The site will evolve into an entirely new town centre, bringing together leisure, retail, offices and the new 20,000-seat YTL Arena.
As ever, the client challenged us to further develop the Mokoko brand. Our design approach responds directly to the building’s scale, history and materiality. Colour, materials and furniture have been carefully selected to evoke a sense of nostalgia, with warm timber, bold accents and crafted details sitting alongside the buildings raw shell.
The team here at Simple Simon have put in an exceptional effort, every detail pored over and considered with meticulous care. But we’re only ever as good as the people we work with, so a huge thank you to everyone who’s been part of the journey 🤍
