All my ladies! 🐞🐞🐞 I had the sweetest time in the sun last week painting this piece for . This one’s going out to all my huns especially the ones who popped down to say hey. 👋🏼 A couple of unexpected bonuses that I had no idea about before is that there is an all ladies gym just round the corner and I was painting on the garage of an all lady house hold! Shout out to baby Mads and her mums 💕 and a big thank you to Hannah and Ben next door for keeping me hydrated and just being lovely :)

Here’s a couple of signs I made especially for nicely modelled by the upfest team 🙌🏼 There’s one more weekend left of the Saturday sessions you can find a load more painters there next weekend and the Upfest sales area will be open again in the bar 🐌🤟🏼

I’m super excited to be heading back to Upfest this year and this time I’ve got my grubby mitts on a wall! 👐🏼 I’m going to keep going with more of the silly bug art I’ve been making and play around combining all my loves of retro illustration, bugs (obvs) , traditional sign lettering and layout, framing, patterned boarders and yummy painty gradients. Come and find me on Raleigh Road on the weekend 23/24th👋🏼 There are already big walls going up around North Street and the next 3 Saturdays from this week you can find loadss more artists painting in too 🙌🏼
will be selling artwork from artists across the festival. I’m making some new bits and lots of others will be too so you can check out all the fresh bits in their sales areas throughout May 🤸🏼

🌈 Pickle Street Part 2 🌈
Here’s a big old round up of Pickle Street pics and process from last year’s installation!

In the past I used to work as a children’s illustrator before choosing to focus on signs so when I got the invitation to paint all of the signs on a miniture street like a giant I couldn’t believe my luck! It was like painting a life size kids book. Thanks to and her fantastic designs and vision for the street I was in my element splashing lots of colour around in the weeks before opening. Can you recognise some of the Bristol businesses that inspired the shop fronts?
There was also a crack team of all women, local painters on the job. ✌🏼
Including .raines working some scenic magic alongside , .grafic & on murals.
& I’m loving the recent fruit mural in Pickle Street Stores by 🍇🍐🥭🍉🥝

Here it is, a super sized sign, the cherry on top for Luna & Lettie’s playroom 🍒
Loads more fun was had on this sign to go with their leopard boarder and matching painted chairs from my last post.
I wanted the sign to have a bit of a Vegas Motel twang in homage to Mum & Dad’s trips there and of course lots of tasty colours.🌴🎲
Side mention for the Photography by . Ash is a studio friend which really helped me get over my awkwardness on camera! He’s captured loads of lovely shots so I will be peppering my instagram with more of them soon :) 📷

I had a very special job recently for the kids of my school bestie Alice. I painted Luna a chair around 5 years ago, it was the very first chair I painted as she was the first baby on the block and therefore also the first baby to receive a coveted ‘doggy blanket’ from my mum (see the last slide) Now it’s only fair little Lettie has a co-ordinating chair of her own 🪑🎈
Leopard print is a big part of Alice’s life, huge! I recently discovered her Mum & gran also wore it religiously, it’s like a family heirloom! So it was no surprise to me when she requested a colourful leopard print designed for the boarder in their playroom. I had a lot of fun putting this together! 🩷🐆 1 more big part to come to finish their playroom of dreams! ☁️

Last year achieved the amazing feat of buying their building 🙌🏼 Through fund raising and generous donations they have enabled it to stay in community ownership forever! I was asked to create some honours boards - but make it arty!- for the main founders who contributed to their crowd funder. A special neon pink plaque was made in memory of as well as panels for , Tom Price &
Just before their open studios in September they also had a spruce up of their entrance hall. I was honoured to be part of their celebrations and painted their logo there too.
Delayed congratulations to them and everyone involved in the efforts to keep the building an inspiring creative space ❤️ 👏🏽👏🏽👏🏽

Ello! Today I’ve been prepping with my shared studio pals for our first open studios. We’re all looking forward to inviting you to have a look at what we get up to on floor 3B !
Come and join us from 6:30 this evening for some drinks or all day tomorrow from 11-5. 👐🏼
I’ve got an intensely decorated tree and few pieces for sale. I’m very much open to commissions too with spaces available for completion before Christmas- get in touch if you want to give something special to your favourite people! 🎄

This is my piece currently showing at the ‘Resist & Persist’ exhibition 🐦‍⬛✌🏼 I was honoured to be asked to be part of the show alongside so many talented, dedicated, resilient, funny, supportive, unapologetic and hysterical ;) women/ trans/ non-binary sign painters 🙌🏼 If you are in the area the show is running until November 2nd at The Grateful Gallery in Glasgow . The caption for my piece explains that the wording choice is originally a quote from Martin Luther King Jr. (as possibly most of you know?) I’ll be honest though I only discovered this when I came to paint it. I had actually picked it up from some graffiti in my home town of Bristol. I thought it was straight from one of the great political minds of the south west😅 Either way! I would always read it and absorb the meaning every time I passed by. The message can be applied in too many ways I need not explain.. In relation to the female energy behind this exhibition though it is a reminder of how recently our freedom has been achieved to be able to work and follow personal passions in fields like sign painting .. I am very grateful I get to see fellow sign sisters producing absolute class work like this ! 👏🏼👏🏼👏🏼
I’m just going to chuck in a recommendation to listen to all/any podcast for anyone who isn’t already on board. It’s so inspiring to hear everyone’s journeys into sign painting. Many of the burds gals exhibiting feature and Lianne - episode gives a particularly interesting insight into painting as a female in the 80/90s .. which is really not that long ago!

✌🏼I’m sending Good luck, wealth & prosperity to all the lovely Bristol Independents with my piece for the Lucky Lane 🍀 paint jam. Continuing on with my Japanese theme I’ve painted a Maneki-neko lucky cat that is often placed at the entrance of businesses to beckon in customers and bring good fortune 💖
Thanks to and top gal .raines for organising 🫶🏼 it was a super fun and inspiring day painting along side all the talented people with their different creative styles ❤️ if you’ve never had an outdoor paint and you fancy giving it a go keep an eye on the Mural Collective for future jams.. although they might be hibernating for a bit now as the rain and cold is returning ! 🙃
