It felt like time for a little reintroduction 👋

I’m Clare — the person behind Craft with Clare.

If you know me already, chances are we’ve chatted over paint pens, glue sticks, gelli plates or a slightly chaotic craft table somewhere in Bristol 😅

But what a lot of people don’t know is that this business has been in my head for YEARS.

I’ve always loved creating, even though I never got to study art properly. Life ended up taking me in a completely different direction — travelling, startup life, sales, corporate roles, a brief year living in a tent in Portugal with my cats ⛺🐈

And then eventually… back to creativity.

Starting Craft with Clare honestly felt terrifying at first.
But also like finally coming home to something I’d wanted to do for a very long time.

Now 1.5 years later I get to run workshops, meet incredible people, watch friendships form and see people surprise themselves creatively every single week.

And that feeling never gets old.

If you’ve ever come to a workshop — thank you 🩷
If you’ve been thinking about coming but feel nervous, please know most people do before their first one.

You are always welcome here

And because it’s also my birthday today 🥹🎂

I wanted to celebrate by giving you 20% off workshops for one day only with code:

BIRTHDAY (original I know!)

Thank you for supporting this little creative business and letting me do something I genuinely love every day ❤️

On the eve of my 38th birthday, after spending the weekend at a 20-year school reunion where only 12 people showed up (I’m not mad — a little disappointed maybe — but life is busy, people are everywhere, and I got to see one of my oldest friends so I really don’t care that much), I found myself thinking about the last 20 years.

And I think somewhere along the way, I lost myself a little.

I travelled A LOT — often by myself. Fiji, New Zealand, Thailand, Australia. Travel was my safety. Staying in one place felt more terrifying than leaving.

I quit uni and booked a one-way ticket to Fiji. That probably sums me up back then.

I got a job at a startup and threw myself into it. Work was everything. There was even a drawer full of rum for the post-7pm nights.

At one point I gave away most of my belongings and moved to Portugal with two cats to live in a tent for a year. I wanted simplicity. Even that came with its own chaos.

I got married. I got divorced.

I partied hard, then reined myself in.

Life moved fast. I met someone. Covid froze everything. Then it started again — and so did I.

Then I got pregnant — the most exciting and terrifying moment of my life.

Then I got very, very ill. Pencil-line-between-life-and-death ill. The kind that takes a long time to come back from. I had to learn to walk, talk, even sing again.

Then I had my baby.

I loved it more than I can explain, while also finding it harder than I ever expected. Becoming a parent changed everything I thought I knew.

Then came work again — and redundancy. A decision I sometimes question.

I tried a few things. Left one. Didn’t quite land in another.

And somehow, all of it brought me here.

To a life I think I’ve always wanted, even if I didn’t know it at the time.

There’s something powerful about starting something just because you want to — without needing it to be perfect.

So here I am.

38 tomorrow.

Still figuring it out. Still changing. Still rebuilding. But more myself than I’ve been in a long time.

And I can’t wait to see what the next 20 years bring.

It’s finally here, as soon as this post hits your feed, hopefully 10am on the dot, you have just found out our next baby jumper embroidery date is live. And this is your sign to book! Last time we sold out in less than 24 hours so if you are one of the hundreds of people that want to do this mum and baby craft class in Bristol act quick!

Led by the wonderful as part of my Mum & Baby Craft Club Guest Series.

My Guest series aims to give a platform to mums that want to share a skill, elevate their business or even just help build the confidence and experience needed to take a step into doing something they’ve always wanted to. You don’t need a business already set up, you don’t need a booking system, and most importantly you don’t need your own network as I share my absolutely wonderful and supportive community and I never want to gate-keep you from taking that first step.

If you are a mum in Bristol or Bath with a small business or a little flame burning inside to launch something, if you have a skill you want to share and you’d love to gain experience and confidence sharing that skill, running a workshop then I’d absolutely love to hear from you!!!

A little look behind the scenes from my first lino printing workshop ✨

From carving the lino blocks to rolling ink and revealing the first prints, everyone created something completely unique.

One of the best moments was definitely the first print pull 👀

This session was part of my Mum & Baby Craft Club — and lino printing will definitely be returning in a few different ways soon 💛

Thank you so much to everyone who came along and gave it a try.

If you’d like to join a future workshop, send me a message ✨

World Lupus Day 💜

Most people wouldn’t have a clue.

They wouldn’t know lupus attacked my brain.
They wouldn’t know there were seizures, intensive care, or that I had to relearn life from the beginning.
They wouldn’t know that even now, there are things I quietly manage every day — fatigue, sensory overload, memory that works differently, words that sometimes sit just out of reach.

Because lupus isn’t always visible.

Many of us become experts at adapting, pacing, rebuilding, and carrying on — often in ways nobody else sees. I’ve rebuilt my life around what my body and brain need, creating a way of living that makes things manageable — and that, in itself, is strength.

Today (albeit late in the day!) — and really, every day — is for everyone living with lupus, especially those fighting invisible battles behind a brave face.

Your strength is real. Your experience is real. And even when unseen — it matters.
