Some items are becoming increasingly difficult to source, so we also offer a large range of authentic good quality reproduction items. We also offer a range of services from fireplace installation to cast iron radiator refurbishment.

A little old meets new 🎶

This fantastic vintage Wurlitzer arrived with us with a faulty original amplifier.

Rather than remove any of the original workings, we've left everything intact and fitted a separate Bluetooth amplifier running through the original speakers.
So it can be enjoyed exactly as it is, while leaving the option for someone to fully restore the original jukebox mechanism in the future.

And just look at those lights! 😍

We headed up to Dundee today as a family to salvage these fantastic old lights from Kirkgait Church.

20 original Holophane brass and prismatic glass pendants, plus 7 smaller ones — and they look brilliant lit up!

I’ll call that a good birthday! 😁

Back in the workshop! 🔨

Now that we’re getting settled into the new premises, and with Jana joining us during the week allowing us to open Tuesday–Thursday without appointments as well as Saturdays, I’ve finally had some time to get back to restoring!

First up is this original slate mantel, reclaimed from Berwick-upon-Tweed. Quite a transformation from how it arrived!

There are plenty more mantels waiting their turn, so expect lots more restorations over the coming weeks. 🔥

I didn't realise old bottles could be quite so interesting... 🍾

We've just had this collection of old bottles come in and, after giving them a clean and actually taking a proper look at them, there are some brilliant ones amongst them.

Lots of old Scottish names and towns, fantastic embossed trade marks and pictorial designs — and even one conveniently dated 1914.

They've clearly opened up another collecting rabbit hole for me... 😂

I'm sure there must be a few bottle collectors following us — anything particularly interesting or unusual that you spot amongst these?

📣 BIG NEWS FROM HOLYROOD SALVAGE!

We’re expanding the team! 🎉

Please welcome our two newest members of staff — Jana and Ria! 🐶

My wife, Jana will be joining us Tuesday, Wednesday & Thursday, helping with the website, customers and generally keeping the place (and probably me) organised.

Ria has also joined the team, although at the moment her contribution seems to consist mainly of distracting everyone, investigating absolutely everything and sleeping on the job. 😂

But there’s some genuinely useful news too…

You no longer need an appointment to visit us Tuesday, Wednesday or Thursday!

Our new opening hours are:

Tuesday – Thursday: 10am–4pm — NO APPOINTMENT NEEDED
Friday: 10am–4pm — BY APPOINTMENT
Saturday: 10am–4pm — NO APPOINTMENT NEEDED

So if you’ve been meaning to come in for a wander around, you can now just turn up Tuesday–Thursday or Saturday and have a proper rummage.

And if you happen to meet the smallest member of staff while you're here, don't expect much help — she's still in training. 🐾

A little look at what’s been going on at Holyrood Salvage this week 👀

Plenty of new stock arriving and making its way onto the showroom floor — antique fireplaces, chandeliers, vintage lighting, furniture and a few slightly more unusual pieces!
