🔨🔥 ONGOING PROJECT | SERIOUS FLOOR PREPARATION 🔥🔨

Another one underway, and this floor definitely needed some serious preparation before we can get anywhere near the finished floor! 💪🏼🛠️

We started with 4 large channels ranging from 20–30mm deep 🕳️📏, which were filled using rapid repair mortar to bring everything back up and provide a solid, stable base. 💪🏼

The new extension was then DPM’d 💧🖤, ready for the next stages of preparation. The following day we attacked the lower areas with a 30mm build-up of self-levelling compound and Granite 🪣⚒️, bringing the levels up significantly.

We then moved onto the existing floorboards, installing 6mm plywood 🪵🔩 before applying a further 10mm build-up coat of screed, bringing the floor level up to the plywood. 📐👌🏼

The whole floor is now being prepared ready for the final 5mm coat all over 🪣✨, giving us the perfect, smooth substrate required for the finished flooring. 🔥

This one is still VERY MUCH A WORK IN PROGRESS 👀🚧…

We fitted this discontinued Amtico Squares design to create a unique, eye-catching finish in the bathroom, before flowing seamlessly through into the hallway with a beautiful herringbone LVT installation. 🤎

🔥 ANOTHER TRANSFORMATION COMPLETED BY AJ FLOORING 🔥

This one was a full floor preparation and installation project, finished using Traditional Oak from the Textures Range — one of our most popular ranges at the moment! 🤎

🛠️ Preparation was key on this project:

🔹 Repaired two substantial areas with holes approximately 200mm deep
🔹 Thoroughly primed the existing floor ready for preparation
🔹 Applied the first coat of self-levelling compound at a 15mm build-up
🔹 Installed a damp proof course (DPM) to provide the required moisture protection
🔹 Applied a further 6mm of self-levelling compound, creating a smooth, flat and stable surface ready for the final floor covering
🔹 Finished with Traditional Oak from the Textures Range, installed in a precision herringbone pattern throughout the space

The result speaks for itself — a completely transformed floor with a beautiful natural oak appearance, authentic texture and a crisp, professional herringbone finish. 👌🔥

This project was all about precision, preparation, and attention to detail. To ensure a flawless finish that will stand the test of time, we carried out a double preparation process, starting with 6mm plywood before applying a final coat of flexible self-levelling compound to create the perfect foundation. 💪

One of the biggest challenges on this installation was the feature balcony overlooking the dining area. Every plank had to be carefully planned and perfectly aligned so the herringbone pattern flowed seamlessly from the balcony into the dining room below. 📐✨
