Not a copy of a photograph. A painting of the people in it. 🤍

I don’t try to reproduce every tiny detail or promise photographic resemblance. What matters to me is capturing enough of you — your features, your clothes, your posture, the little things that make you recognisable — while creating something beautiful enough to have on your wall.

Every portrait is individually drawn and painted by hand from your photograph. No filters. No digital effects. Just pencil, paint, paper and my interpretation of you.

Because I want it to feel like your wedding portrait, not simply a painted photograph.

I loved painting this one. The way they’re looking at each other, the checked suit, that beautiful dress—and the blue ribbon on the bouquet.

I don’t try to reproduce a photograph exactly. I want the couple to be recognisable, but still have the softer, flattering feel of an illustration.

A little change of name… and a new chapter for my illustrations. 🤍

Wedding Art by Alison is now Illustrations by Alison.

Weddings will always be at the heart of what I do — I love being part of such a special day and turning those moments into something that can be kept long after the confetti has gone.

But as my little business has grown, so has what I love to paint, and it felt like the name needed to grow with me.

I’m still happiest with a paintbrush in my hand, capturing people, occasions and moments that mean something to you — there’s just a new name above the door.

And if you’ve followed, encouraged, booked or simply liked one of my illustrations along the way — thank you. It genuinely means a lot.

Here’s to Illustrations by Alison and whatever comes next. 🤍

Things don’t always
go according to plan…

A little studio mishap -

And this is what happens when I don’t practise what I preach and let the paint dry. 😬

I moved onto his hair while the paper was still damp and watched the dark paint bleed straight into his face.

At which point I made mistake number two — trying to rescue it.

A little more paint here. A little adjustment there. And before long I’d taken the whole portrait much further than I wanted.

There comes a point when you have to stop trying to save something and simply start again.

Not every portrait makes it off my drawing board — and I thought you might like to see one that didn’t.

It’s not always what it seems!!!
