🩷 From Granny’s hands to the streets of Paris… 🇫🇷

A little making during our Paris stopover turned into a birthday present, and before I knew it my latest handmade bag was getting its first outing beside the Canal Saint-Martin!

Made by hand using recycled fibres, then very kindly modelled for me in Paris (my sincere thanks). Not a bad adventure for a ball of yarn. 😉🧶

September looks a little different for gifts by Granny… 🇪🇸☀️

There are no markets for me this month because Granny is officially on tour! 😂

We left Somerset towards the end of August, with a few lovely days in Paris before heading south to Spain. And although I’ve swapped my studio and market stalls for life on the road for a few weeks, the making certainly hasn’t stopped.

There have already been projects made in Paris, designs dreamt up somewhere between France and Spain, and inevitably rather a lot of yarn travelling with us. 🧶

So throughout September I’ll be sharing some of what I’ve been making along the way, as well as new ideas and projects from here in Spain.

First up, I have a little Paris story to share… 🇫🇷👜❤️ (so keep tuning in) 🙏

Then I’ll be back to my Somerset markets in October.

Buying for a new baby can be surprisingly difficult, can't it?!

You want to give something that's thoughtful - but also something new parents will genuinely use.

That's why I love making these little baskets!

They're perfect for nappies, wipes, lotions, tiny socks...all those little bits that somehow never seem to stay in one place for very long!

And once baby has grown, they don't get packed away.

They grow up alongside the family. They become storage for toys, books, hair accessories, colouring pencils...whatever life throws at them next.

I believe the best gifts aren't just opened - they're used, loved and enjoyed for years to come.

One of my favourite things about going away is soaking in all the inspiration that surrounds me, wherever I am.

Whether it's the colours of the sea, a pretty doorway, a flower growing by the roadside or a beautiful sunset, I'm always spotting ideas that make me think, "Ooh... that would make something lovely!"

This handmade bag was inspired by the beautiful Mediterranean blues, from the sea right through to the evening sky.

I never seem to travel without my crochet hook either. It somehow always finds its way into my suitcase! You never know when inspiration might strike.

Wherever I go, I always seem to bring a little piece of that place back to my Somerset studio...just in a slightly different form.😊

Apparently birthday celebrations don’t stop Granny going to market! 😂🎂🧶

We’re right in the middle of Mr K’s birthday celebrations, but I’m squeezing in one last market before we head off on our travels again!

I’m at Bleadon Village Market today, 9.30am–12pm, surrounded as always by some brilliant local makers and lots of lovely friendly faces. Do pop in and say hello if you’re nearby. 💕

Then it’s back to the birthday celebrations and, very soon, packing for our travels… when the important negotiations begin over exactly how much yarn Mr K will allow into the gaps in his precision-packed car. 😂🧶🚗

Don’t worry, I’ll be keeping in touch with projects, makes and a few tips from the road!

I thought it was time for a reintroduction for all my new followers!👋🏻

I'm Sharon, otherwise known as the Granny behind gifts by Granny!

I've been crafting for as long as I can remember. My great-grandmother taught me when I was just seven, and these days you'll usually find me with yarn somewhere nearby...whether that's at home, in the caravan, on holiday or even getting my hair done!

I'm also Granny to twelve wonderful grandchildren, which probably explains why I love creating thoughtful, practical gifts that become part of everyday life, rather than being tucked away in a cupboard!

Another market morning for Granny! 🧶🛍️

Today I’m heading somewhere new to me, the Pop Up Market at Brean Village Hall, from 10am–3pm.

And there’s a brand-new member of the Doorstop Gang coming along for his very first market outing…

🐑 Cedric the Suffolk Sheep is making his debut!

But NO photos yet. You’ll have to come and find me if you want to meet him. 😉 I’ll have lots of my other handmade goodies with me too.

Good morning Burnham! ☀️

It’s been a little while since I’ve been at the Burnham-on-Sea Makers & Craft Fair, so I’m really looking forward to catching up with lots of familiar faces today.

You’ll find me at the Methodist Church from 9am until 2pm, alongside a fantastic group of talented local makers.

I’ve been busy creating plenty of new pieces over the past few weeks… including this little caravan doorstop, ⬇️ made using a collection of recycled and reclaimed materials that I’ve gathered from local charity shops. I had such fun bringing it to life and can’t wait to see what you think!

Well...Granny is hitting the road! 🚗🧶
