Happy Sunday everyone,
I have absolutely loads of jobs to post but there’s been a lot on and significant changes recently.
We have just completed a very interesting project in Burnley. The client contacted me because of our reputation for complex projects and the quality of finish.
The challenge was to completely transform a large lounge and dining room. It hadn’t been touched for over twenty years.
The ceiling paper was coming off, along with sections of coving and there was damage to some skirting (due to previous water ingress) and damage to the fire surround.
This was a complete strip down, extensive prep and decorating.
All the walls snd the large ceiling were stripped. Cracks snd plaster damage were filled and sanded.
The coving was removed and fresh coving installed. The section of damaged skirting was also removed and fresh skirting installed.
The large ceiling and walls were lined using 2000 grade lining paper.
The damage to the fire surround was repaired and rebuilt using HB42 2 pack filler.
I also removed an unsightly wooden box above the patio doors. I had to use timber to rebuild the section above the frame, including battening out and adding some profiled trim. I installed coving around the newly revealed section of wall too.
Both ceilings were sprayed to a finish.
The woodwork was prepped, sanded, undercoated and given a topcoat using the Crown Fastflow paint system.
We applied 4 coats to both sides of the glazed doors (1 Zinsser BIN, 2 undercoats and 1 topcoat). This was the equivalent of painting 20 doors both sides, with a huge amount of beading. A big challenge in itself.
All the walls were papered with Superfresco wallpaper.
The fire surround was cleaned with sugar soap, given a coat of Zinsser Bullseye 123 Plus Adhesion Primer and two coats of Bradite One Can in Anthracite Grey.
We also treated a section of wall with Zinsser Watertite to prevent any damp from coming through the wallpaper.
All of this on top of the usual caulking, sanding, painting and generally keeping clean as we progressed.
The final touch was fitting new antique brass handles.
Now that’s what you call a wrap around service. Having a team with the skills set to totally transform a space and achieve the wow factor.
The clients have asked us to return early October to freshen up the hallway, as they are having an engineered wood floor installed throughout the hallway, lounge and dining room once we’ve completed the next phase.
Transformations are about having the vision and being able to problem solve, not just being able to do the decorating.
This was a very satisfying project to have the pleasure of doing. 😊
