Arched doorways are having a moment, and not only in period homes. After years of flat, square openings, curved architecture is back and I am here for it!

Nine ways to use an arch in your home:

01 Front doors / Porches // instant presence, and shelter while you find your keys
02 Hallways // an arched opening turns a doorway into a framed view
03 Open-plan // zone the kitchen without losing light
04 Pantries, alcoves and kitchens // the cheapest arches in the house
05 Bathrooms // a curve softens a room full of hard surfaces
06 Garden doors and arched windows // more sky in, a flat rear wall given shape
07 The reveal // paint it, tile it, run a pattern through it, make it sexy
08 The brick detail // voussoirs, header courses, a rebated frame - detail, detail, detail
09 On a budget // no wall moving required

The reveal is the one most easily missed. It’s the thickness of the arch, the face you see as you walk through, and it usually gets left the same colour as the wall. Tile it, or go a few shades deeper, and a plain opening becomes a feature. A really easy win but gives such a clear design intent 👌🏽

As part of a whole house remodel + renovation we had to get creative with this family bathroom.

In this bathroom, the wet area becomes a destination, we created a thoughtful wet-area layout that works harder: one space, two rituals. The rain shower and freestanding bath share a seamless enclosure, elevating both practicality and design.

In this project, I played with striped wallpaper (anyone who knows me, knows I can’t resist a stripe!), layered colours, and a mix of textures and patterns to create a space that feels imaginative, warm and full of personality. From soft pastels to playful decor accents, every detail is designed to spark joy and inspire little minds. 🌈💫

Open plan or not to open plan — that is the question.

Open plan living transformed how we experience our homes — bringing light, flow, and connection to daily life. From busy family moments to effortless entertaining, it’s a layout that celebrates togetherness.

Yet, in recent years, there’s been a quiet shift. As our homes work harder than ever, the need for separation — for calm, focus, and retreat — has re-emerged. A series of defined spaces can offer that sense of balance and sanctuary an open plan sometimes lacks.

Perhaps the dream lies somewhere in between: an open, flexible heart of the home paired with a tucked-away nook — a place for reflection, conversation, or simply peace.
