Transformation of the landing and stairs in a cottage originally built for the workers from an old mill:
• stripped the wall paper
• repaired the many cracks and several large holes in the walls
• scraped and sanded the flaking paint on the walls
• stabilised the remaining paint with a coat of stabilising primer
• painted the walls, ceiling and woodwork in white

Added a garden step and hand rail to provide a level and supported access to the garden for an elderly customer:
• dug a hole and added a concrete foundation
• laid a layer of bricks and topped with a paving stone
• drilled and bolted the hand rail to the step

Replaced rotten sleepers. Once the sleepers were removed
• dug the trench slightly deeper and wider
• lay the new sleepers on a layer of stones so that any water would drain away and the new sleepers would not be sitting in any standing water
• back filled the trench with stones to improve drainage and minimise risk of rotting
• Even though the sleepers were pressured treated painted the sleepers in wood preserve
◦ stood the sleepers in a tray of wood preserve so they would soak up the preserve into the end grain at both ends

Painted both sides of a long fence using a sprayer and paint diluted from 'Refill Paint Concentrate pouches' which worked out cheaper and uses significantly less plastic than the usual 5 or 10 litre paint containers.

Replaced the bathroom floor after a major leak. Identified a piece of waste pipe that was too short and had come out of a joint causing the leak. Replaced it with a longer piece of waste pipe and also simplified the routing of the sink waste pipe, removing 4 joints and reducing the risk of future leaks. Removed some wall tiles that would be reused to cover a gap in the corner of the bathroom. Fixed a new aqua panel to the wall after attaching 3 strips of plywood to the plaster to pack out the surface and ensure there was a level surface to attach the aqua panel. Repaired the missing tiles in the corner of the bathroom. Refitted the toilet and sink
