On one of the hottest weekends of the year so far…. I was lucky enough to decorate the outside area at Bowood, it’s always a joy to do but this time I can’t deny it was a touch too warm, for me, for the flowers and for the Swans that were sat just behind the lake! Glorious colours of warm pinks, soft pastel shades with a not to purple and mauve, a real dream!

Been a bit quiet on here lately…. I’ve been gardening! And just look at this beautiful tree peony, sadly the label has gone so if anyone knows the name I’d be very grateful! But isn’t it gorgeous!

It’s been a busy few weeks here… some delicious spring weddings, a demonstration with my wonderful colleague Emily from Elsie mayflower @ mile elm, seed planting and getting the flower beds ready for the new season. This year sees me slow down on the day to day floristry and do more freelancing, teaching and event work…not to mention the flower cutting beds. It’s nice to see the mornings a little brighter, a bit more warmth in the sunshine and the birds singing later into the evening….

Using some gorgeous dried foliages, artichoke & hydrangeas from the garden mingled with fresh pine & fir. Always a joy to decorate this mantelpiece, the rich golds and reds in the room really pop with the Christmas tones.

Saying goodbye is really tough…..lots of forms to fill out, letters to send, people to call, tears to shed, hugs to hold your loved ones and silent moments thinking of happier times… but sometimes you can say it with the final goodbye flowers. This beautiful tribute was made for a very special man who sadly passed away last week…every single bloom has been picked from his garden, the Dahlias, Roses, Alstromerias, salvias, Ammi and so much more. What an honour to be able to pick from a well stocked boarder and make something I know he would have loved.
