By now you’ll all know how much we love our affordable curiosities, useable ceramics and brown furniture.. 😅😍
So, It is a really rare occasion that we have any really high price point items in the shop.
However, we are starting the new week with a real beauty that bucks this trend.
This stunning piece is an original oil by the artist Eric Mason. The piece is very large, very tactile and really quite unique.
‘Eric Mason (1921-1986) was a painter of figure subjects, London scenes, coastal views and abstracts. He was also an amateur magician and illustrated books and magazines relating to magic. Mason left school at the age of 14, which was quite normal in the 1930s, and he studied commercial design and became involved with studio management.
By the 1960s he was working in St Ives and he painted both abstract and representational views in and around Cornwall.
In the early 1970s it appears that he was living in London and he painted familiar London scenes, such as the Horse Guards in The Mall and views of Buckingham Palace, Trafalgar Square and other landmark sites. ‘
The painting is signed by the artist, but also detailed with a handwritten note of ‘st. Ives’ on the reverse and stamped with his personal logo.
We’ve priced it at £260, which reflects both that the piece is an original and its collectible nature.
If nothing else, it would make the mother of all top-notch Christmas gifts for any military or art lover!
Dimensions are available upon request, but just a heads up that you’ll need a lot of wall space!
