Quartzite, marble, granite, slate, and wood can all bring something very different to an interior, but the right choice depends on where they're being used and what the space needs to do.

A kitchen surface has different demands to a bathroom. A bar may need to withstand something entirely different again, while in a living space the visual qualities of a material may take greater priority.

Our designers consider the intended use of the space alongside the overall design, looking at how a material will perform, age, and sit within the wider scheme.

There is rarely one material that is simply the best. It's about finding the one that makes sense for the space.

These four spaces may have very different characters, but each has been designed with the same starting point: understanding the client and how they will use it.

From the way storage is organised to the balance of furniture, materials, colour and lighting, there are plenty of decisions that shape how a bedroom feels and functions.

A bedroom needs to work for the practical things — but it should also feel like somewhere you want to retreat to at the end of the day.
Different people, different homes, different requirements, same objective.

That's where the design becomes personal.

A multi-room project doesn't mean every space needs to look the same.

Instead, there should be a sense of connection between them — a shared design language, recurring details and materials that allow each room to belong to the same home while still having its own character.

This project was designed with that balance in mind. Each space has its own purpose, personality and practical requirements, but the relationship between them creates a natural flow throughout the home.

Because ultimately, a home isn't designed for photographs.

It's designed for the people who live there — and how they actually live.

When planning a bathroom, the basin can sometimes be one of those decisions that feels fairly straightforward, but there are far more options than just wall-hung or countertop.

Consider the different materials such as Lava stone or petrified wood, maybe crystal or solid brass. From these images each bring a very different character to the room.

Part of our role is simply to show clients what is possible. You don't always know which options are available until someone puts them in front of you, and the skill of our designers is not just to help you get the aesthetic right, but also what works in your home.

Sometimes the most interesting part of the design process is discovering something that you didn’t even know could be a possibility.

With an open-plan kitchen and dining space like this, storage needs to work hard without making the room feel dominated by cabinetry.

Here, wall and island storage provide plenty of places for the things this family needs, while keeping the main areas open and easy to move through.

Natural light does much of the work in this room, so the design was kept considered and uncomplicated, allowing the architecture and proportions of the space to remain part of the finished design.

A render gives our client something to view to make the vision comprehendable.
It allows the client to look at the proportions, finishes, storage and details together, and gives the opportunity to consider how the space will visually work before anything is made.

That visual communication is an important part of the design process. It creates clarity between the initial idea and the finished room, while there is still time to make changes and refine the details.

Here, the finished pantry can be compared with the original design — a useful reminder of how an idea develops from a drawing into something you can actually use.

The success of a home lies in the relationship between its spaces.

For this project, every room was designed as part of a wider architectural composition, preserving the authentic heart of the home while introducing contemporary ways of living.

Integral to the design is bespoke cabinetry, handcrafted in our workshops in Kendal. Each piece is designed specifically for the architecture of the home, responding to its character rather than imposing upon it.

The result is an interior where craftsmanship, architecture and the way our clients live are considered together, creating spaces that feel timeless, individual and entirely at ease.

There isn't one correct way to organise a kitchen.

Where you prepare food, what you like to keep close at hand, how you move around the room, and what you prefer to keep out of sight all influence the design.

In this kitchen display at our Carlisle showroom, storage has been planned into the cabinetry, including a concealed space for the fridge.

The point isn't to add storage for the sake of it. It's about deciding what the room needs to do for you, then finding the most natural way for everything to work within it.
