🍷 WE’RE GOING TO THE WINTER WINE FESTIVAL! 🍷

We’re really excited to announce that APB Bespoke Crafts will be exhibiting at the Winter Wine Festival at Soper Hall, Caterham on Saturday 14th November!

We’ve been working on a new collection especially for the event, with handcrafted serving and charcuterie boards, personalised wine boxes, slate pieces, wine accessories and plenty of unique Christmas gift ideas. 🎁

Rubber roof is finally going down! ☀️🔨

Following on from the rotten roof we stripped right back to the rafters, rebuilt and re-decked with new 18mm OSB, the EPDM has arrived and it’s time to get it weatherproofed properly.

Couldn’t have asked for better weather for it either! 🙌

For the install I’m using SkyGuard Water Based Deck Adhesive, supplied by SkyGuard Roofing. Really straightforward to apply with a roller and made getting the EPDM down onto the new OSB nice and manageable. 👌

A bit of a transformation from what we uncovered underneath that old fibreglass! 😳

Next up is getting everything trimmed, bonded around the edges and finishing off all the details.

Well… this turned into a slightly bigger job than expected! 😅🔨

What started as repairing a leaking flat roof quickly revealed just how bad things were underneath.

The old roof had been patched over with fibreglass, but once we started stripping it back, the timber underneath was absolutely rotten. There was only one proper way to deal with it…

🔨 Stripped right back to the rafters
🧹 All rotten material removed and cleaned out
🪚 Timber structure checked and prepared
📐 New roof deck formed with a slight fall to improve drainage
🪵 New 18mm OSB installed
☔ Temporarily weatherproofed while we wait for the rubber roofing to arrive

A lot of work, but it’s good knowing the rotten material is gone rather than simply being covered over again.

Now just waiting for the EPDM rubber roof to arrive and we can get it completely finished. 👌

And yes… this is the roof where the DeWalt router decided it had had enough and the trusty Makita had to step in 😂💀

Well… when one lets you down, you call in the old faithful 😂🔵

After my DeWalt palm router decided to give up and join the tool graveyard 🪦, there was only one thing for it…

Out comes the trusty Makita to save the day! 💪

Straight back to work and got the job finished. Sometimes the old faithful really does come through when you need it most 😂

Can a compact laser engraver earn a place in a real workshop?

I’ve been putting the BlazeX M3 Pro through its paces over the last few weeks, testing it on materials I use every day at APB Bespoke Crafts.

From detailed slate engraving to personalised wooden projects, I wanted to see how it performed in a genuine small workshop rather than a controlled demo.

I was genuinely impressed by the precision, ease of use with LightBurn and the overall engraving quality.

🪑 A restoration I’m really proud of…

These chairs belonged to my mum, and rather than replacing them, I wanted to give them a second life.

What started as worn-out chairs with faded green upholstery, frayed seat webbing, loose joints and years of old varnish became a full restoration project.

Every chair was:
🪵 Completely stripped to bare timber
🔨 Taken apart and rebuilt
🪚 Repaired using the original joinery
✨ Hand-finished with hardwax oil
🧵 Reupholstered in a fresh, modern fabric

The best part? Seeing furniture with sentimental value brought back to life instead of ending up in landfill.

🔨 Another bespoke build completed by APB Bespoke Crafts!

A slightly different project this time — a custom-built timber fence designed specifically to sit on top of an existing block wall and provide some extra privacy, screening and a much cleaner finished look.

Everything was made to measure, built from timber and finished in a contemporary dark exterior finish to complement the garden.

One of the things I enjoy most about bespoke work is finding a solution for spaces where something straight off the shelf simply wouldn’t work.
