Antiques are Green Antiques are Green is a non profit organisation that promotes a valuable heritage industry and embra Nigel Worboys

Since we founded the Antiques are Green movement in September 2009, hundreds of antique and vintage businesses agreed “to promote the green credentials of antiques.” It has become commonplace for the green credentials of antiques to be cited by television presenters, journalists, dealers and consumers, frequently referencing the concept of reusing the past. Our original carbon footprint comparison

of an antique versus modern chest of drawers is regularly quoted. Having invested time and effort in the original movement, we are now re-launching Antiques are Green, as we feel the time is right to support the industry by increasing consumer awareness. The aim is to help promote trade, products and services to consumers . Many of the economic changes, including the expansion of media channels, and the migration of antiques to on-line have helped to make antiques and vintage more accessible. As a consequence, we are launching a new website, which replaces the earlier version of www.antiquesaregreen.org and rejunvenating our social media efforts to raise press interest, trade opportunity and consumer buying. Over the same period, the importance of being green has significantly increased as a central component of corporate social responsibility and now consumers are more focussed on sustainability. All businesses, whether large international corporations, or small family businesses, have become aware of the need to protect the environment. Companies nationally and internationally are actively endorsing a commitment to being green and consumer interest, awareness and spend is following. Our new website is due to be launched summer 2021 and we will be asking the trade and consumers to support Antiques are Green for the first time or reconfirm their commitment from our initial launch

We hope that you can join us, becoming part of our vision – a greener future for the past.

It has been proven that buying at auction can significantly help you reduce your carbon impact, whilst also extending the life of a perfectly good, fine quality piece of furniture. Not to mention securing you unique style and value for money!
