Day 21 of is repost day! 🧶
Back to where it all began… 💚
My very first post on this page was a picture of my pack of crochet hooks, with the caption Hooks where every crochet crafts journey starts.

Looking back, it’s funny to think about how many projects, how much yarn and how many stitches have come since then!

And the little green 4mm hook? Still my absolute favourite after all these years. 💚 I’ve used it so much that the colour has actually started to fade… I think that says it all! 😂🧶

It’s amazing how something so simple can become such a familiar part of your everyday life. Here’s to many more projects with my trusty little hook! ✨

Day 20 of is about sharing our favourite part of crocheting… 💕
For me, it’s the combination of two things. 💗

There’s something about picking up my hook and yarn that helps me switch off from the stresses of everyday life. It gives me a little bit of peace, a chance to slow down and just focus on the stitches in front of me.

And then there’s the feeling of finishing a piece and looking at what I’ve created. A sense of accomplishment✨

I think that’s what makes crochet so special to me. It’s not just about the finished item, but how it makes me feel along the way. 🥰

What’s your favourite part of crocheting?

Day 19 of is about a throwback 📸🧶
Although I learnt to crochet as a child, around 3 years ago, I started using crochet as a way to help manage stress. At the time, I was making some big changes in my life and career, and a lovely friend knew just how much crochet was going to become a part of that journey.

She gifted me this crochet bag, along with some gorgeous shades of Emu yarn. 🧶 The yarn eventually became a cardigan that I’ve worn so much, and the bag has stayed with me as a little reminder of where it all began. Swipe to see my original picture of the gift from 2023!

Looking back, it means more to me than just a bag and some yarn. It reminds me of a friendship, a time of change, and how something as simple as picking up a crochet hook can become such an important part of your life.

Making big changes can be scary. You don’t always know where they’ll take you, or whether you’re making the right decisions. But sometimes, looking back, you realise that those scary changes were exactly what you needed. 💗

So this is my throwback, a little reminder of friendship, finding something that brings you peace, and having the courage to make changes, even when they feel daunting.

Also, shoutout to Lauren Springate 💖

Day 18 of is Market, YAY OR NAY? 🛍️🧶
So far… YAY! 🥰

I did my first market this year with my lovely craft group Crafty Crafters, and it was such a fantastic day! It was lovely to get out, meet people and see others appreciating the things we spend so much time making. 💕

But it also made me think about the reality of selling crochet.
When you add up the hours spent making each item, the cost of the yarn and materials, and all the time that goes into finishing everything, it can be really difficult to make a proper profit. Crochet takes time, and handmade items reflect that.

For me, I try to look at it a little differently. Crochet is my hobby, and I’d be doing it anyway because I love it. So if I can cover the cost of my materials, that’s a bonus! 🧶

I also think it’s important to take a break from making things for other people and make something just for myself every now and then. Sometimes I want to enjoy the process without thinking about how long something is taking or whether someone will buy it. Just me, my yarn and a project I want to make. 💗

Because at the end of the day, crochet is supposed to be something I enjoy, not just another job!

What about you? Do you sell your crochet, keep it as a hobby, or do a bit of both? 🛍️✨

Day 17 of is about posting a fail, but I don’t see any crochet piece as a failure. There may be a difficulty or a challenge, or an opportunity to improve and learn.

As a crocheter there are often mistakes and involved in projects. For me it’s mostly realising I can’t count or “chaos crochet” where I tend not to read patterns and hope for the best (it rarely turns out well 😂)

One of my challenging projects this year was this skirt. Firstly, I made the waistband WAY too big and I couldn’t be bothered to start again by the time I realised. In the end the large waistband made a lovely gathering in the skirt. 💃🏽

The challenge I am now facing is the waistband again as it doesn’t sit right when worn. I will keep working with elastics and cords until I’m happy with it.

Not a failure, there is potential here! 💖

Day 16 of is World Food Day 🍓🍉🧶
Crochet and food… my two favourite things! 😂

Last year completed a beautiful picnic blanket as part of a SIRDAR Crochet Along, and I absolutely loved watching it all come together.

The patterns were inspired by all things picnic, with fruit designs appearing as you worked through the panels, followed by the little fruit appliqués to finish them off. 🍋🍓🍉

Unfortunately it hasn’t been used for a picnic yet, but the first picnic I have, it will be coming along!

Day 15 of is all about showing off your weirdest crochet creation
We’re halfway through Croctober already! So, for today’s challenge, I’m sharing something a little different from my usual crochet makes. Maybe not so “weird” but more wonderful!

A few years ago I was commissioned to make crochet balloons! 🎈Something completely new to me, and definitely not something I would have thought of making myself. But these weren’t just any balloons, they were going to be part of a baby birth announcement, with pink or blue to reveal the baby’s gender! 🩷💙👶

When you’re making something for such a special moment, you really want to get it right.

It was lovely to try something different and step outside my usual projects.
Have you ever been asked to crochet something completely unexpected? 🧶

Day 14 of is the decision between Wearable or Plushie? 👗🧸
Definitely Team Wearable over here!

I’ve made cardigans, hats, co-ord sets and scrunchies, and most recently finished this vest top. I absolutely love how the colours have come together on this one, perfect autumn vibes! 🍂🤎💗💛

I have tried amigurumi in the past, but let’s just say it hasn’t always gone to plan… 😂 Some projects have been abandoned, and others have been a complete disaster! So I think I’ll leave the cute little plushies to the people who know what they’re doing. 🧸

For me there is something so satisfying about making something you can actually wear, especially when you get to pick the colours and make it completely your own. 💕

So, are you Team Wearable or Team Plushie? Or are you lucky enough to be good at both? 👀🧶

Day 13 of is sharing your best crochet tip 🧶
Today’s tip is all about something that might seem quite simple, but can make such a difference when you crochet… a good yarn holder! 🧶✨

I’ve recently been using a wooden hanging, rotating yarn holder (modelled by my partner as I’m at Crafty Crafters), and honestly, I wouldn’t be without it! But after visiting the Knit & Stitch Show at the weekend, I came home with a new portable yarn holder to try out. 🛍️🧶

Having a good yarn holder helps your yarn feed smoothly as you work, rather than rolling around (usually across the room), getting tangled or catching on everything in sight! 😂 It can also help keep your tension more consistent because your yarn can flow freely.

And if, like me, you enjoy working on bigger projects or taking your crochet out and about, having a holder that suits your setup can make crocheting that little bit easier and more enjoyable.

My tip: Find a yarn holder that works for you and your crochet style. Your wrists, your yarn and your patience might thank you for it! 😂🧶

Now I’m curious… do you use a yarn holder, or are you a ball-of-yarn-rolling-around-the-room kind of crocheter? 👀

Day 12 of THINK PINK 💗
A little pink flower for a very important reminder. 🌸🩷
October is Breast Cancer Awareness Month, a time to raise awareness, support those affected by breast cancer and remind ourselves how important it is to look after our health.

Behind the pink ribbons and campaigns are real people, real families and real stories. Some are fighting, some are recovering, some are supporting someone they love, and some are remembering someone they have lost. 💗

It’s also a reminder to get to know your own body, be aware of any changes and seek medical advice if something doesn’t feel right.

A little reminder that awareness matters, checking matters, and supporting one another matters. Sending love to everyone affected by breast cancer, in whatever way that may be 🎀
