When we first visited Formal House, we knew it was different. Character, craftsmanship and attention to detail matter to us—and this building has all three.

Formal House has a fascinating history, dating back to 1897, when it was built as a Victorian warehouse for Barnby, Bendall & Co.- a Cheltenham furniture removals and storage company established in 1839. For generations, the building was used to store and transport people’s furniture and possessions, giving it a strong connection to Cheltenham’s history.

Over the years, Formal House has evolved through many chapters, while its careful restoration has preserved the character and craftsmanship of the original building.

We’re delighted to be bringing beautiful home furniture back into this remarkable building and continuing its story.

Another beautiful summer's day at our new studio. ☀️

Today's milestone is the plumbing installation, an important step in bringing the space to life. It's exciting to see everything gradually coming together.

Once complete, our showroom will feature fully working sinks, Quooker boiling taps and coffee machines, giving you the opportunity to experience every detail exactly as intended.

We're looking forward to welcoming you through the doors towards the end of September. Until then, we'll continue sharing a few behind-the-scenes glimpses as the studio takes shape.

One of the most exciting stages of a kitchen project is bringing together the finishes that will define the space.

For this concept, we've combined soft cashmere cabinetry with warm, natural oak detailing to create a timeless foundation. To add depth and character, we've introduced a striking Corten steel-effect feature finish, perfectly balanced by elegant white marble-effect worktops and warm brass accents.

The result is a kitchen that feels both contemporary and inviting—blending natural warmth with sophisticated industrial influences.

Every material is carefully selected to ensure the finished space not only looks beautiful but also works harmoniously as a complete design.

Our recent visit to Leicht Welt in Germany was an opportunity to carefully curate the finishes for our new showroom. From rich textures to beautifully balanced colour palettes, each selection has been made to showcase the quality, craftsmanship and understated elegance that define contemporary German design.
