Guild member Rhian Whyman is taking part in FAR (Forest & River) OPEN Studios from Saturday 4 - Sunday 12 July, at Venue 55 - Wobage in the Threshing Barn Woven Textiles Exhibition.

Wobage will have their gallery open to feature pottery, willow weaving, watercolours, wood carving, jewellery, furniture and print, along with a little outdoor tea room.

Open daily 10am-5pm.

We are delighted to share that four members of The Guild have been selected for Craft Festival, Bovey Tracey in Devon which opens this Friday.

Two of our jewellers, Fionna Hesketh and Su Trindle, furniture maker John Crossley will be exhibiting and rug maker Jessie James will be demonstarting on Friday with MAKE Southwest.

In its 22nd year, Craft Festival will feature more than 200 selected makers, promising another outstanding celebration of contemporary and heritage craft.

There will be workshops, demonstrations, talks about heritage and contemporary craft, the world’s smallest solar-powered cinema, yoga, free children’s activities, live music, theatre, storytelling and good food.

It’s the most wonderful weekend of creativity and community - do try and go if you can. Think the weather is going to be 🌞 too!

We’re happy to welcome jeweller Rowena Park as guest exhibitor to The Gloucestershire Guild.

Rowena works with clear acrylic which is shaped and bent using grinders, saw cuts and polishing grits to achieve the basic shapes. She then re-polishes and refines - using interesting shapes that people want to handle.

Transparent coloured lacquers combined with almost pure gold leaf and resins are applied to the back surfaces to create the vibrant and glowing effects, which are then “viewed” through the clear acrylic layer.

The clear acrylic enhances the jewel like quality of the combination of lacquers and gold leaf by focusing the light into the acrylic and bouncing off from the
coloured layer.

The acrylic material is also very tactile and warm, as well as being
lightweight so is very easy to wear.

It’s fabulous! Come and take a look.
