The product that wasn’t meant to be...
We never set out to make these. Truth be told, we ordered the wrong size handles for one of our grazing boards. Total accident. But as it turns out... happy accidents are how some of the best ideas are born.
That’s how our Chest of Coasters came to life.
Each little chest is handcrafted by my stepdad in him garage workshop in Chester-le-Street, using nothing but reclaimed wood and a fair bit of patience. They take around 10 hours start to finish: measuring, cutting, sanding, staining, and sealing every inch so they’re not just good-looking, but practical too (yep, they’re heatproof – no mug marks here).
No two chests are ever the same. The grain, the knots, the way the stain soaks into the wood – it’s all down to nature and time. The kind of thing you just don’t get in a factory-made set.
What we’ve heard from people who’ve bought them is this:
🥰 “It’s the first thing people notice when they sit down with a cuppa.”
And we love that.
These are made to be used. Made to sit proudly on a coffee table for years. And if you’re after a gift that’s a little bit different – a housewarming, a thank you, or even just a ‘you’ll love this’ moment – this is a proper good one.
