Overall height 201 cm / Plate rack height 120 cm

Plate rack Depth 20.5 cm / Plate rack width 163.5 cm

Materials - Untouched Antique Thick pine with original pine backboards and original turned wooden drawer k***s.

Origin / Provenance: Wales

Date - Circa 1840

A substantial and exceptional-quality Welsh pine dresser, dating to circa 1840, retaining its original plate rack, seven drawers, central cupboard, and wonderfully mellow patina acquired over generations of use.

Particularly noteworthy is the rare, exceptionally thick original antique pine top, beautifully worn; its deep scrubbed surface has been untouched and has developed a rich colour and authentic patina that cannot be replicated, and tells a story of decades of everyday country-house use. The drawers retain their original hand-cut dovetail joints and slide smoothly, while the back is original and is constructed from vertical pine boards.

With broad hand-planed boards throughout, the dresser displays beautiful provincial craftsmanship. The distinctive carved Gothic-inspired central cupboard door, fluted corner pilasters, shaped cornice and original turned wooden k***s give the piece exceptional character while remaining wonderfully restrained.

Description: A beautifully proportioned antique Victorian solid pine farmhouse dresser dating from the 19th century, offering all the charm and practicality of a traditional country dresser in a rare and wonderfully versatile size.

Unlike many antique farmhouse dressers, this example benefits from smaller proportions, making it ideal for cottages, kitchens, dining rooms, hallways or homes where space is at a premium, without compromising on storage or visual impact.

Crafted from solid pine throughout, the dresser features a generous two-door cupboard base with a fixed shelf, and a classic open plate rack above offering four display shelves for crockery, books, pottery, or decorative pieces.

The antique pine has developed a beautiful, warm honey-coloured patina over generations, with the thick plank top displaying the authentic marks, knocks, and wear expected of a genuine working farmhouse piece. These honest signs of age only enhance its rustic charm and character.

A timeless antique pine dresser would complement country, cottage, farmhouse, Scandinavian or contemporary interiors equally well.

Features:

*Rare smaller proportions – ideal where a full-size farmhouse dresser won’t fit

*Wonderful rustic patina developed over more than 140 years

*Practical cupboard storage with spacious display shelving

*A genuine Victorian country piece full of character. Perfect for kitchens, dining rooms, cottages, farmhouses or period homes
