More on Instagram: Hello,

Thank you for taking the time to find out a little bit more about me & my art. As an independent creative & freelance artist, it means SO much! So, a little about me, I have always been a painter & a creator. My childhood involved me drawing characters

or animals, at my Nan’s, I had an unspoken competition with a cousin to get more doodles up on Nan’s kitchen wall than him! It was really the only subject I got excited about so naturally went on to A-Levels & Art College. I then entered the world of adulthood where I got a very dull 9-5 job & therefore completely stopped creating… I regret this SO much. I spent a few years switching up my career path, trying to find what was missing as I was unhappy. Until I realised, I was not doing what I enjoyed! Twelve years later I have realised how quickly life is passing me by & thought about how much I missed creating. I picked up a sketchpad & played with my incredibly old watercolour paints & started doodling, sketching, & painting again… & LOVED it! I proudly create watercolour portraits of pets & humans. I also make my own illustrations (as an aspiring children book illustrator!) but also create commissions for personal illustrations as keep sakes or gifts. I dabble in abstract art too, using acrylics & other mediums. Please get in touch about commissions, originals, and prints. Katy Broster x

What is the difference between a portrait & a caricature? A portrait would make a great gift for any occasion or lovely way of honouring the memory of a someone. A portrait is a more traditional & detailed piece than a caricature. Caricatures are extremely popular as they are more simplified than a traditional portrait. They are a cost-effective purchase that still captures the attributes of your furry little friend or person. A caricature has more simple accents & is cartoon-like, with slightly exaggerated features of the drawn subject. How much does it cost? Costs include time, materials, & postage in the UK. Get in touch if you want a postal quote for abroad. As a guide for one subject (Pet or Human) Watercolour Portrait:
A5 £70 - Recommended for a close-up chest & head portrait. A4 £90
A3 £125

One subject (Pet or Human) Watercolour Caricatures:
A5 £55
A4 £65

Prints & abstract art are individually priced. What materials do you use? I use high quality heavyweight (300gsm) watercolour paper, watercolours, ink, colouring pencils & occasionally pastels. If it is a private commission, you will receive the original watercolour, which will be signed & unmounted & unframed. If it is a print of one of my original drawings or paintings, this will have been printed on either 280, 300 or 350gsm card, which may be smooth or slightly textured. I will have selected what is appropriate for the image. Please note that some photos include my artwork framed in photos, these are for illustrative purposes only. Or were photos taken from previous clients who have framed the artwork. I do not include framing. How will items be shipped to me? A4 and A5 art is posted in a cellophane sleeve in a cardboard protective envelope. Occasionally a postal tube is used, this causes paper to curl, this is normal. Two options to correct this; place it under heavy books on a solid surface, secondly let a professional framer frame it for you. Canvas work is sent with appropriate protection. But extra-large pieces are taken off the frame & sent in a large postal tube. You will need to source a local framer to reframe it. I send items via Royal Mail or Hermes. How does a private commission work, like a Pet Portrait? When you want to place an order, send me an email of what you are after (e.g., A4 Pet portrait) & attach several photos of who you want painting. I will message back to confirm a quote & ask for more photos if needed. For both human & pet paintings for me to capture a great likeness of your pet/person I need several high-quality photos & it is best if photos used have no flash (as the flash alters the natural colours of fur or skin). Several photos mean I also have a choice of poses, you may have one pose you prefer, mention this! Photos from the same level are most flattering, this is also true for pet commissions. Look at the posture of your pet/human, would it make a good painting? With regards to photos, I can only accept photos that are your own or that you have permission from the copyright holder to use them. By purchasing a portrait, you will have the only physical (& of course) original item! I do not sell copies of private commissions. As the artist I own the copyright of all my paintings & illustrations so I will use photos of my work on my social media accounts to advertise my services further & on my Etsy website. I would also be very appreciative if you could leave a review on my page, or Etsy page & tag me in your social media if you place a photo of you item hanging up with pride. You can find & follow me on Instagram It is appreciated! Most sales for artist like me are through word of mouth, previous clients tagging us on their social media with the artwork or telling family & friends about our services. Average turnaround from receiving your photos to finishing & posting your commission can be one to two weeks, I usually have a number of projects on the go at one time. All is dependent on my workload, Christmas time can be very busy so get in touch if you need it ASAP to see realistic timescales!

I haven't posted in quite a while (182 days meta keeps reminding me). But back in May we lost my mum's partner of 25 years, he lost his battle of four years with his mental health. This ripped through our family and has been absolutely devastating.

This summer we were all supposed to happily welcome our new baby but this awfully sad situation put a pause on ... Well ... Everything.

We've had a very up and down time, remembering wonderful times and then being brought back to reality and questioning everything.

It's like Dave should just be walking though the door, late as always with a smile on his face. Mum is having to adjust to this new life she has been pushed into and now the owner of his lovely dog, Mindy 💖🐾

Our family and friends have been incredible in supporting us at such a heavy time. Thank you 💕 I've spoken to so many people who are or know someone in a similar situation and it breaks my heart.

I couldn't just carry on posting paintings online like nothing had happened. I still have his latest pet portrait on my desk I was to tweak, he'll never see it fully finished 💔 Dave always supported my art, from a young age. I'm sorry Dave I never finished the painting for you to see it. I'm sorry for a lot of things right now as we all wish we could change things or just talk to you one more time.

Everybody needs to get talking and look after their mental health. Check in on each other. Don't sweat the small, live life to the fullest and tell those you love how much you love them.

I didn't really know what to say and have put off saying anything. But here we go.

🧡🧡🧡 Goodnight Dave 🧡🧡🧡 We love and miss you.
