It’s only when you look back on a month that you realise how much has been going on, and how very exciting it has all been. Bringing it all to life reminds me of the creativity involved and how much we, as a team, achieve every day.

From organising model and product shoots to partnering with the weavers and guiding them on our designs, placing basket orders, managing the quality, marketing our brand via our showroom in Chipping Norton, and out at fairs. It is A LOT.

And it has been hard. Ever so hard. If you’re a small indie biz, I am sure you know the depth of what I say.

But I push, the team pushes, and the weavers keep weaving.

We need you, and I am sure you need us...

Here’s to another month of creativity, exploring newness, and keeping an age-old skill alive. To be human, to connect and bring positivity to our lives through every stitch, every conversation, every woman who is working to provide for her family.

Our Summer bag collection is launching very, very soon...

If you’re visiting Chipping Norton, please pop in and see our new showroom, it’s open M-F 9 am til 5 pm and Saturdays 10 am til 2 pm. We are planning a bit of a Summer party...

After 12 years of taking part in many fairs, you’d think I wouldn’t have anything left to learn! Completely the opposite, each one is very different from the next, and while you can apply logic and learning, you’ll still reflect and think, “Next time, I’d do XYZ differently”.

It was our debut at Spring Fair in London, timed perfectly with the Chelsea Flower Show, which was situated around the corner.

Firstly, I’d like to express my sincere thanks to , .ware, and all the hosts at , Amanda, Mimi, and Johnny, who kept us going with coffee, pizza, and wine!

It was a blast, a lot of fun! Here are five things I learnt...

1. Even though I had an idea of how the stand would look, I moved baskets around every day, responding to the flow of visitors to the fair and how best to showcase our wares within our potting shed. I even ordered a wallpaper pasting table from Argos and collected it on route one morning! I nailed the layout...on the final day!

2. I spoke to so many new and existing customers, some who’d bought from our stockists in London, some online and many of you for the first time! We’ve seen new orders come through on the website that we can link directly back to the fair, which shows how important it is to talk to everyone and hand out flyers. You need to build trust before someone will buy, for some customers, that will happen instantly... for others, it will take time.

3. Take note of what people are asking for; this could inform your next collection or inspire you to look for a new supplier! Beaded bows as brooches...I’m in!

4. Plan your outfit for each day when packing your bag - it will save you SO much time in the mornings, especially when you need to set up/open the stand. And if you’re like me...change it completely!

5. Your neighbours become your community, get to know them - swap ideas, biz tips, and support one another (offer to grab them a hot drink, watch over their stand when they pop to the toilet). It’s so inspiring to see what other creative minds are doing...thanks for keeping me going

New arrivals, and a memory that sits behind them ❤️

Slide 1: a flick through our latest knitted basket bags - fresh colourways, playful patterns, and one-of-a-kind weaves, each slightly different from the next. These are new additions to a long-loved collection that we’ve been reordering for years, thanks to their timeless, durable, everyday ease.

Slide 2: a welcome dance from our visit to Kenya in 2016 - a moment of warmth, joy and connection with the women weavers who bring these pieces to life. It’s a reminder of the hands, skill and community behind every bag we make.

Each piece is handwoven in Kenya using reclaimed wool from recycled jumpers, rooted in traditional kiondo weaving techniques and shaped by generations of craft.

Made to be used. Made to last. Made with so much heart.

Our shop transformation… ✨

Over the last 11 years, we’ve always had some sort of ‘shop space’ within our HQ - but it never felt right. It would end up messy, get in the way, and was never a priority.

As retail has shifted in recent years, and we’ve felt changes across both online and wholesale, it felt like the right time to try something new…

In Chipping Norton - not far from our roots in Charlbury - creating a space that truly reflected who we are became so important. It needed to be everything at once: a shop, packing space, office, storage, and somewhere to shoot. (We’ve always done everything in-house.)

It started to take shape with Mark and Bear, a father–son duo I trust completely. From second-hand furniture to props from past shoots, much of it was gathered before building even began. A simple moodboard led the way, with green as the anchor - soft, grounding, and easy to live with.

Stud walls went up, floors were cleaned, shelves painted. Two strip lights we didn’t love turned into something else entirely - a scaffold board reimagined into a driftwood-inspired feature that now stops you as you walk in.

At the entrance, I wanted planting that felt connected to where our baskets are made. Inspired by Moroccan riads, and created with the help of my very talented sister Lucy (a qualified gardener), the planters bring softness and life to the space.

It’s a huge transformation - and still evolving. Pieces will move, displays will change. But it finally feels like something I’ve always wanted: a space of our own.

Over time, we hope it becomes something more - pop-ups, exhibitions, flowers, and a place for the community too.

Find us between and on the outskirts of Chippy.

Spare blankets, throws, toys or large plants needing a new home?🌵

We’re often asked for larger baskets and so we’ve designed two new colourways in our XL colour block basket.

Handcrafted from the sisal plant and meticulously handwoven by female weavers in Kenya.

So far the sapling green and dusky pink has been your favourite, I think we’ve only got 8 left. Thank you!

Which is your favourite colour combo?

In our team meeting last week, we decided to focus on 'Moments of Joy'. Reminding ourselves to notice the pockets of happiness in our everyday lives. The hawthorns are flowering in the hedgerows, and blackbirds are nesting in my garden, feeding their young at dawn. The sun is shining...well, it was! And I am sure it will be back.

Spring at The Basket Room has been full of movement. I am quite a believer in the Wheel of the Year, and I follow the Moon's phases - it all helps me feel closer to nature and instills a sense of grounding. I've discovered a new weekly yoga class, and I am ready for the Year of the Fire Horse!

Change can feel uprooting, and I've navigated many at The Basket Room over the last few years. I've never been afraid of change, maybe it was because my Mum moved house every few years when I was younger! The excitement of a new room, working out where I would put everything. The adventure and mystery excite me. I could write a book about all the houses I've lived in...but first, baskets!

The excitement that I felt then, I feel it now. There are still new designs to imagine, different colours to explore, and weaving partnerships to build.

And, it's all happening.

A Grand Opening at Basket Room HQ...watch this space.

Spring, is that really you?! 🌷

A new take on our beaded bow decorations. You loved these at Christmas, so I just knew we needed some for Easter, too...

In soft pastel shades of Powder Blue, Butter Yellow, and Chartreuse Green, these handcrafted bows are designed to be hung from your Easter tree. Or, tie them to napkins as place settings, hang one from a cupboard door, or gift them instead of chocolate.

Whimsical, handcrafted, and steeped in tradition. Each bow is hand-beaded by Maasai women in Kenya.

My favourite?! The soft cornflower blue! Where would you hang yours? 🎀

There is something quietly special about a home that welcomes every generation - including the four-legged ones.

At , Nicky keeps one of our handwoven dog baskets ready for when her daughter visits with her baby in tow - and, of course, Poppy, their much loved Dalmation. It’s become Poppy’s place the moment she arrives: a familiar, comforting spot that says you belong here too.

Each of our dog baskets is made slowly, by hand, using traditional techniques and responsibly sourced natural fibres. No rush, no shortcuts - just considered craftsmanship designed to last for years of muddy paws, afternoon naps, and family gatherings.

Because a dog’s bed shouldn’t feel like an afterthought. It should feel like part of the home. Beautiful enough for the sitting room. Strong enough for daily life. Gentle on the planet.

For homes where dogs are not just pets - but family. Discover our collection of handwoven dog baskets and create a place they’ll return to, again and again.

It’s a gallop.

The past two years have been incredibly hard, and I know I am not the only biz owner to be feeling this! Towards the end of last year, I was in a hole, not knowing which way to turn. My family lifted me and has given me and this truly wonderful business a beautiful ride into 2026...

Something in me switched overnight—boldness, clarity, and a clear vision. I was shedding all that was, letting it go, and I found my voice within. Owning a business can quite literally crush you, shrink you, and overwhelm every part of you.

Here we are, ready to ride, at full speed but with grace, a clear path, and happiness and joy along the way!

We’ve had an incredibly strong start to the year, and I am so proud of the team. Thank YOU so so much for believing.

To the year of the Horse.
