We have been contacted by STV Studios who are seeking participants for a new Channel 5 show called The Great Auction Showdown to be presented by Paul Martin.

They are looking for participants who have antiques or collectables that they'd like to have valued, and perhaps taken to auction. There they will be sold by celebrity auctioneers, who will 'compete' to raise the most money for their clients.

Filming will begin next month - venue and exact date to be confirmed, but likely to be in Oxfordshire. The show is open to professional dealers as well as members of the public. If you'd like to take part, or want more information, email [email protected] or call or text on 07717 694989.

All calls and texts are charged at standard network rates and STV's Privacy Policy can be viewed using this link: https://www.stvstudios.com/privacy-notice

If Friday's fix in the Corn Hall wasn't enough, pop along to the Village Hall in Bibury tomorrow for the monthly antiques and collector's fair. A sunny spring day in Bibury ... what could be better!

Thank you to everyone who came to visit last week on the Bank Holiday. We were very busy and it was well worth opening on that day. We are open every Friday, unless prevented by extreme weather throughout the year. Christmas Day and New Year's day are exceptions, as well perhaps if the Friday falls a day or two either side. Please check Antiques Atlas for dates in the future but there is no reason why we won't continue to be trading every Friday.

Cirencester has both an antiques market (just on Fridays) in the Corn Hall and an antiques centre across the street. The Corn Hall also has a craft market on Saturdays and a Homes and Garden market from Monday to Thursday, as well as an occasional vintage fair on a Sunday, all enjoying the in-house Diversitea cafe.

There's always something going on, so do come and check us out.

Please note everybody, the antiques market is OPEN on Friday 3rd June, the Jubilee bank holiday. Look forward to seeing you all there.

Red Alert everybody. The market is cancelled for tomorrow Friday 18th February owing to weather!!!!!

12/01/2022

The market re-opened at the Corn Hall, Cirencester on Friday 7th January and we were surprisingly busy after two weeks off. We are open every Friday from now on. Doors open at 5 am for stallholders, dealers and customers, so a morning call is recommended. There are usually about 40 stand holders, all selling good quality but affordable antiques and collectibles, with profit left in it. We are frequently complimented on the high standard for a weekly market and buyers return every week for new stock. With no auctioneers' buyers premium added to the price, what's not to like?

Friday 17th December is the final week of the market this year and we will re-open on Friday 7th January. Thanks to all the stallholders, both regular and casual, who have sustained the market in a troubled year and also of course to our many customers without which no market could survive. There have been numerous complimentary remarks about the high quality of the goods on offer and we are picking up more and more trade customers who can buy here and make a decent profit elsewhere.

Many say it's the best weekly, indoor fair around and are willing to travel a long way to get here each week - Derby, Bournemouth, Farnham, Yetminster etc etc. No doubt there have been a good number of wonderful buys from time to time, which always encourages customers to come back again and again. Thank you one and all.

So finally, all good wishes for Christmas and the New year and hope to see everyone back again on the 7th January

Things are really getting going again after all the Covid tribulations of the last 18 months and every Friday we're attracting a lot of trade buyers to the market, as well as new stallholders who are surprised how busy it can get.

Admission is free and buyers are pleased to see a high standard of goods, combined with prices that are reasonable and, with stock changing weekly, we're often told that it is the the best weekly market outside London with up to 40 good stallholders. Relax after spending your money by going to our in-house Diversitea cafe for quality teas, coffees and snacks. What's not to like? This is where the trade come to buy their stock and enjoy their day.

If you're in the area there is also the antiques centre opposite the Corn Hall and nearby is the Top Banana antiques centre at Tetbury. No wonder this part of the Cotswolds is fast becoming the place to come for antiques.
