I would like to begin by apologising for our radio silence and lack of updates and communication. Lockdown has affected us all in so many different ways and we have been forced into unusual coping strategies. My own was to avoid social media and protect my state of mind. As an adult with Aspergers Syndrome, a worldwide pandemic shaking up my routines has made for an interesting few months. It is proving hard to re-engage but I am working on this. But enough about that, here's the update. Some good and bad news. The bad - we won't be reopening until September (approx). The good and a big reason for the late return - our shop expansion is finally happening. Walls are coming down, rooms are connecting and get this...we will have our very own toilet. With such an old building, the renovations are complicated and taking time, but soon we will be able to offer a safe, socially distant friendly space with disabled access and we totally think it is worth it. Until the build is complete we won't be taking any bookings or allowing collections of prelockdown ceramics; I am sorry for any inconvenience this may cause but I am sure you can understand how difficult this would be. We are sad and sorry not to be open for the summer, but our intentions are to return stronger, safer and with better facilities for us all. We miss you all and cannot wait to welcome everyone to our new space soon. Updates and guidelines on future visits will follow once we have torn down some walls and added some windows! Stay safe and wonderful. Georgia ###

OK, so we weren't expecting Boris to mention pottery painting studios in his latest address, but we can take a hint and to be honest, it's where our thoughts were at anyway.

We will be open tomorrow but there will be no more painting in the studio. If you're one of our bookings for tomorrow afternoon, please get in touch to discuss options. We will contact all those with future bookings as soon as possible.

We have received a lot of interest in the takeaway kits we are putting together and they will be available very soon. It is taking a little while as we are giving everything a thorough clean. The kits are made using our studio sets of paints, and at the moment we only have six of them. We are running low on paint, and deciding whether or not to empty the bank account on supplies at this time is not an easy decision.

Both the shop and studio will be closed on Sunday and Monday, we will gather our thoughts and make an action plan.

As ever, the health and safety of you all is priority number one. We are staying calm, protecting one another and remembering what truly matters ❤️

Pick a Pot & Paint will stay open until we are told to close. The health and wellbeing of our wonderful customers and team is of the utmost importance to us, and we are following all official advice and guidelines on protection and safety and we simply ask that anyone visiting us are not putting themselves or others at risk. The mental health of us all is also massively important, which is why we are striving to keep going and to radiate positivity. Change has to be embraced and we are working out ways of safely bringing Pick a Pot to your homes as takeaway kits. If anyone is facing birthday celebrations at home, in need of boredom busting activities or for some mindfulness that our ceramic painting can bring, please get in touch. We welcome commissions for personalised pottery for gifts, which we can post or arrange dropping off locally. We will post any updates on this page. If we have to completely close down, I will do everything to bring us back again. During a shutdown, I will probably be available for childminding, errands, dog walking...

Look after yourselves and those around you ❤️

We are working on a statement on our practices and business opening in the current difficult time and will update this page soon. In the meantime, here's an article on talking to children about corona virus which is at the forefront of our thoughts

What parents and other adults can say to kids about the coronavirus COVID-19. How to answer their questions and keep kids feeling safe.
