NEWS FROM THE CLACTON KEYBOARD MUSIC CLUB.
On Wednesday AUGUST 12th 7.30 pm, the clubs guest will be PETE SHAW. Do come along if you can for a great evening of music at the Gt Clacton village hall in Valley Road, just before the The Ship Inn. Plenty free parking. Wheelchair friendly. No need to book, just bring yourself along. Everybody made welcome. Pete Shaw is one of the most versatile player/performers around. In 2004/5 Pete had his all round musical talents
highlighted when he was asked to be Musical Director/Studio Producer of an all new theatre road show version of ITV’s ’Stars In Their Eyes. He spent 400+ hours in the studio working on the tracks and written parts for the the live shows, unfortunately due to factors beyond his control the whole tour got cancelled at 1 days notice to the horror of everyone involved.
Over the last 18 years Pete has made many appearances as an extra/background artiste in TV programmes like CoronationStreet,
Emmerdale, Cold Feet, and many more which he enjoy's very much. Another high point in his colourful musical career came when he got a call from Paul Crone at Granada TV to work as Musical Director on a live broadcast called "Tour Of Talent. It was held at north west seaside resorts through the summer of 2007 over 10 days,Pete said "Over the 10 days we had 1200 acts from singers/musicians/comedians to complete dance groups performing throughout the day, culminating in a daily final broadcast live on ITV's Granada Reports, It was a fantastic experience to work with such a broad range of talent from the North West of England"
As well as working solo, Pete has worked with his wife Yvonne in a very successful dance /cabaret duo called SAREMMA from 1995 to November 2016 (the name incidentally comes from his daughters Sarah and Emma!). Because of their wide variation of music, the duo performed at many Dinner Dance/Cabaret functions nationwide, and picked up three BEST DUO awards from the 2008 City of Culture - Liverpool. After 21 years of working together the duo is now retired - They have worked throughout the UK & overseas, They have made many friends along the way & have enjoyed every minute of working together on the pro circuit.
This will be an evening not to be missed so come along and enjoy one of the top performers in the country.

NEWS FROM CLACTON KEYBOARD CLUB.
Carols Corner.
A wonderful array of music by David Ingley was enjoyed by members & guests at the The Clacton Keyboard Music Clubs April concert. David first won a holiday camp talent competition at the age of ten, & another as a teenager. This was his catalyst for becoming a professional organist. Leaving school in 1986 he realised his ambition and became a full-time professional organist playing around the country & abroad. He currently plays a Technics GA3, modified to make it portable, plus a Yamaha PSR8000. David played songs from ‘Les Miserable’, & a host of singers, Elvis, Matt Monro, Abba, Village People to name but a few. A joyful selection of music written by Henry Warren tapped its way into the hall from the legendary Broadway musical and 1933 film classic, ‘42nd Street’. The film was so financially successful it saved Warner Brothers from bankruptcy. Famous songs from the 50’s & 60’s were not forgotten. A bit of jazz in style of Stéphane Grappelli. A bit of classical, Greig’s 1868 piano Concerto, the only concerto Grieg ever finished. We had John Williams, 1977 best selling theme ‘Star Wars’, a super mixture of Frank Sinatra, I think every Genre was catered for. The finale was the iconic, ‘My Way’, which interestingly was a French song released in 1967 called, ‘As Usual’, but then popularised into a mega hit by Frank Sinatra.
It was a great evening. I hope we hear David again next year.

CAROL CORNER
Wow! What amazing evening of music was brought to us by Jean Martyn. Jean is an accomplished international acclaimed artist, degrees in music, pupil of late Johnny Dankworth & a ‘Britain’s Got Talent’ finalist. With this CV we knew we were in for a great evening & Jean delivered the goods with a double Wow! The music burst forth with Christmas favourites, ‘Deck the Hall, Walking on Air, Winters Tale, Frosty the Snowman, Dreaming of a White Christmas, Winter Wonderland’. Of course, we all joined in singing.
Jean enchanted us with ‘The Dance of the Sugar Plum Fairy’, from Tchaikovsky Nut Cracker Suite; big applause for a brilliant rendition. We had some Boogie & Ragtime Music. Boogie has a strong accent on the second & fourth beats, known as ‘backbeat’, as in jazz, blues, R&B, and rock and roll. Ragtime is known for its "ragged" rhythms contrasting a steady left-hand beat with a bouncy, off-beat right-hand melody. Both originated way back in African communities but became very popular in 1920’s America. Jean kept us singing with an amazing selection of Carols & Christmas songs. ‘Away in a Manger, Silent Night, O Come All Ye Faithful, All I Want for Christmas is My Two Front Teeth, Santa Claus is Coming To Town’, including the happy foot tapping ’Feliz Navidad’, Spanish for "Merry Christmas", to name just a few. Jean combined the evening with a little numerous story telling & even interspersed with some skillful playing of Bach. What a versatile lady. It was a wonderful evening & fitting finale to end our 2025 musical calendar. I’m sure, on your behalf, we would like to say a big thank you to all the committee for their dedication & hard work throughout the year. Thank you. I wish you all A Merry Christmas, A Happy, Healthy New Year & look forward very much to sharing another year of music in 2026.

NEWS FROM THE CLACTON KEYBOARD MUSIC CLUB
Carol’s Corner There’s something about live music that can’t be replicated - Brett Wales master of the keys demonstrated just that. From the moment he hit the first note with ‘Conquest of Paradise’ Brett had the audience captivated.
The latest Wersi Sonic keyboard filled the hall with spectacular incredible sound. Brett played us a wonderful mix of genres….bit of swing, dash of pop, beautiful lush orchestral arrangements, some classical. We had it all. We felt the Wersi’s solid beat of ‘Men of Work’s’ famous 1981 song ‘Down Under’. Multi tracking for the song ‘My Beloved’ was accompanied by a lady singing…how technically clever is that. The lush sound of violins followed with ‘La Vie En Rose’ popularized by Edith Piaf way back in 1947. We had some country & western, ‘Some Broken Hearts Never Mend’, recorded in 1977 by Don Williams. ‘New York, New York’ demonstrated the super Big Band sound, contrasting with a host of different instrumental sounds for Mozart’s ‘Rondo alla Turca, a Turkish March 1791. We had another amazing Wersi vocal voice of Freddie Mercury singing ‘I Want to be Free’. The amazing songs kept coming. ‘Knights in White Satin’, ‘Will You Still Love Me Tomorrow’, ‘This Old House’, ‘Rock Around the Clock’, the poignant voice of Elvis singing ‘Look Away’, to name just a few. It was more than a concert, it was an experience……& what a lovely, full of character guy is Brett. He shared stories & joked with the crowd, his music & energy was infectious. We all left buzzing & with happy smiles. We do hope we see him again in 2026. Big Thankyou to Vic & his team for booking the great ….Brett Wales
