Art is a process of building… 🎨

Layer upon layer, mark upon mark. Building colour, texture and depth, but also confidence in where the painting is going.

Some stages feel exciting; others leave me wondering whether it will ever come together! I step back, look again, make changes and gradually find my way.

Each layer gives me something to respond to. Even the marks I paint over play a part in what comes next.

Sharing a little of the process here at Laura’s Art Studio, where patience, curiosity and a few happy accidents all have their place. 💛

Good morning from Morocco! 🇲🇦✨

We’re heading into Marrakesh this morning for a guided tour, and I’m so excited to discover the sights, sounds, colours and history of this incredible city. I can’t wait to explore the bustling souks, admire the beautiful architecture and soak up the atmosphere—camera at the ready! 📸❤️

Happy 65th ❤️

Happy 65th birthday to my beautiful Ward. ❤️

I honestly don’t know where the years have gone, but I do know how incredibly lucky I feel to have you by my side through all of them.

Life with you is never dull — there’s always laughter, plenty of chaos, the odd disagreement 😂, and so many wonderful memories that I wouldn’t swap for anything. You are my partner, my best friend, my safe place and the person I want beside me for all the adventures still to come.

You are such a wonderful Papa to our grandsons , and seeing the love you have for them and my girls makes me love you even more.

So today, on your 65th birthday, I hope you know just how loved you are. ❤️ I hope the next chapter brings you everything you deserve — happiness, good health, lots of fishing, plenty of Spurs victories (although I’m not holding my breath! 😂), and most importantly, many more years of us making memories together.

Happy birthday, my gorgeous man. ❤️

I love you more than words can ever really say.

Happy 65th, Ward. Here’s to us, and to whatever adventures come next. 🥂❤️🎂

I love this artwork by Deborah Azzopardi, she has inspired my love of art so much. How lucky am I to own such a beautiful piece? This is one of her very early works before she had reached worldwide acclaim, and teamed up with the Amy Winehouse Foundation.

I’ve been asked before to do a short video to show my process but I’m not very confident making videos, especially when I’m in them!! I’ve had to add music to cover the sound of my breathing!!!😮‍💨

Sometimes the process seems a bit odd, but trust it…
Work with complementary colours e.g. purple and yellow, red and green. Using purple as my base colour for a lemon allows the purple to creep through to create the perfect tonal qualities and shade.
Do you have any tips to share? I’d love to hear 🫟💛🎨🖌️
