What does creating Lady Mary from flowers have to do with your wedding or event?

More than you might imagine.

When we began designing Lady Mary, we didn’t start with a list of flowers.

We started with her story.

Her personality. Her character. Her clothes. Her history. Her surroundings. And, importantly, how we wanted people to feel when they experienced the finished design.

That same thinking sits at the heart of the way we approach our weddings and events.

For a wedding, the story is yours.
Your personalities, your venue, the atmosphere you want to create and those moments you want your guests to remember.

For an event, the starting point might be completely different.
A brand. A milestone. A location. A theme. An experience.

There isn’t one Amega Fleur “look” that we apply to every brief.

As professionally trained floral designers, we use flowers, foliage, colour, texture, scale and space to create something that belongs to the occasion in front of us.

Sometimes that means restrained and elegant.

Sometimes abundant and romantic.

Sometimes it means creating a nine-foot Dowager Countess from hundreds of flowers!

Different stories require different creative responses.

But behind them sit the same principles:
Luxury. Sustainability. Creativity. Experience.

And one question that we return to again and again:
How do you want to feel?

Because flowers can do so much more than decorate a space.

They can help tell its story.

The award we never properly celebrated…

Last year, our floral interpretation of Lady Mary Crawley was voted Fan Favourite at Fleurs de Villes, Royal Botanic Gardens, Kew.

And somehow, in the whirlwind of running a busy floral design studio, we never really stopped to share it.

So we’re putting that right now.

Lady Mary took around 80 hours to create and incorporated approximately 1,200 stems, with every detail carefully considered to tell part of her story.

From the preserved red petals and anthuriums following the lines of her iconic dress, to white calla lilies representing her marriage to Matthew Crawley, and the spikier botanical details reflecting that unmistakable Lady Mary wit, this was never simply about covering a mannequin in beautiful flowers.

We wanted people to stop, look, discover the details and feel as though they had met a character.

Knowing that visitors connected with her enough to vote for her makes this award particularly special.

A heartfelt thank you to everyone who visited and voted, to Tina, Karen and the wonderful Fleurs de Villes team for continuing to trust us with these extraordinary opportunities, and to everyone who helped us bring Lady Mary to life.

Perhaps we’re a little late to the celebration.

But this one was definitely worth celebrating.

Fan Favourite, Fleurs de Villes at Kew Gardens 2025.

We’re rather proud of her. ❤️🌹

Some stories deserve to be told properly.

Last year, Amega Fleur’s Fleurs de Villes journey took us from Claridge’s, where we created a floral tribute to the Dowager Countess of Grantham for the Downton Abbey: The Grand Finale premiere and to Highclere Castle.

Just two weeks later, we created Lady Mary Talbot for Fleurs de Villes at Kew Gardens, where she was voted Fan Favourite.

It was an extraordinary few weeks of research, design, mechanics, hundreds of flowers, long installation days and more than a few surreal moments along the way.

None of it would have been possible without our incredible Amega Fleur team. Amy, Grace, Heidi, Helen, Sue and Martin all played a part in bringing these ambitious floral designs to life, and I am so proud of what we created together.

And yet, somehow, we never really stopped to tell the whole story.

So we have.

Our latest Journal story takes you behind the scenes of both floral mannequins, from the first ideas and intricate details to Claridge’s, Highclere and Kew, and what being part of these remarkable projects meant to us.

A candlelit New Year’s Eve wedding for C&C at the gorgeous Tudor Barns, Belstead. It was romantic, atmospheric and the most beautiful way to welcome a new year together. 🫶🏻💒

As darkness fell outside, the barn was filled with the warm glow of candlelight and an abundant floral arch designed to bring the feeling of the garden indoors. Overflowing with layered seasonal blooms and natural movement, the installation created a stunning backdrop for both the ceremony and evening celebrations, while giving guests the perfect space for unforgettable photographs throughout the night.

There is something so magical about winter weddings, especially when rich florals, soft lighting and meaningful details come together so seamlessly. ❤️🥰

A beautiful April wedding for G&L at Crondon Park filled with sunshine, colour and the most romantic floral details. 🤍

Genevieve’s bouquet was full of vibrant roses, delicate butterfly ranunculus and scented stocks which is the perfect combination for a fresh and joyful spring wedding palette. 💐

Their ceremony featured a stunning floral moongate, paired with a long and low arrangement along the ceremony table to frame their vows beautifully. After the ceremony, each design was thoughtfully repurposed to dress the top table, creating an elegant floral backdrop for the wedding breakfast and carrying the styling seamlessly throughout the day.

From the warm sunshine to the love-filled atmosphere, this day was so special to be part of and a wonderful example of how statement florals can transform every moment of your celebration.

Thank you for letting us be a part of your special day. ❤️

From Concept Drawings to Beautiful Installations. We love working with our couples in creating perfectly bespoke florals that reflect them and their love. 🫶🏼
H&J’s ceremony florals at Braxted Park were the perfect blend of romance and modern elegance. Their contemporary double urn arrangements were filled with hydrangeas, peonies, roses, gypsophila and lisianthus, creating a beautiful statement backdrop for their vows.

One of our favourite parts of wedding floristry is thoughtfully repurposing designs throughout the day. After the ceremony, these arrangements were moved into the Pavillion to frame the top table beautifully - allowing the couple to enjoy their flowers from day to night.

If you’re currently planning your wedding florals, reusing key arrangements is such a lovely way to make the most of your designs while creating a cohesive look throughout your celebration. 🌿✨
