Here’s a glimpse of our recent upholstery masterclass with the inspiring Armand Verdier-Fine Upholstery. There is something very special about spending a week immersed in the techniques of 18th-century France 🇫🇷. Our thanks to Armand for sharing his expertise and love for his craft. PART II : celebrating the traditional work of our AMUSF diploma graduates. In three short years they have gone from absolute beginnings to upholsterers capable of stitching complex shapes, piped flutes, double scrolls and independent sprung edges. The time and dedication this takes is admirable. What an exceptional group! We can’t wait to see what you all do next xx

Learn about:
- surface preparation using gesso and bole
- application of size
- traditional water gilding
- oil gilding
- the laying of copper, silver and 24 carat gold leaf
- creating age and patination
