Keep an eye out for this table at the Glass and Decorative Fair at Gaydon Motor Museum this Sunday, 19th April.
If you’re interested in learning more about the Glass Society, some of our members will be there and happy to chat when you spot the table.
Below is a brief summary of what the Society offers to its members.
The Glass Society’s ongoing mission is to promote the study, collecting, and appreciation of
glass and its history. Subscribing members receive a quarterly printed magazine, Glass
Matters, which features a range of scholarly articles and news items, as well as the Journal,
which we aim to publish every two to three years. In addition, members are invited to join
our monthly online talks and lectures via Zoom, along with in-person meetings held at least
once a year at the Art Workers’ Guild in central London.
Our website, http://www.theglasssociety.org, has been designed to serve both members
and the wider public, providing an engaging and informative digital platform through which
to explore the Society’s resources and activities.
Members benefit from access to an extensive searchable archive of past and present
publications, including newsletters, lecture papers, magazines, and the journals of the Glass
Circle and the Glass Association. They also receive detailed information about forthcoming
lectures and events that is not available to the general public.
In addition, the website offers a range of dynamic features, including:
• News, lectures, and events pages covering both past and forthcoming activities
• A page-turning or flip feature for publications, enabling engaging reading and
browsing
• Up-to-date information on developments and topics of interest in the world of glass
• A history section exploring the heritage of glassmaking and collecting
• An image gallery showcasing significant works and moments within the glass
community
• Links to relevant societies and museums with glass collections worldwide
Non-members are able to browse selected public content. The Society plans to introduce
online subscription renewals and membership payments in the near future; however,
applications for membership can already be made through the website.
