The pottery shelves are well stocked these days with archers, ships and beasties from the Bayeux tapestry. These tumblers are headed British Museum way, and I'll keep them churning out for months to come too.

A trio of colourful cups.πŸ’™β€οΈπŸ’š These designs are headed out to some Scottish museum shops which I love supplying stuff for. The standing stones design is destined for Calanais Visitor Centre ,and the Pictish designs are heading for the black isle for Groam House Museum .

So get yourselves visiting some Scottish museums! Autumn is the best time for exploring these places anyway. 🏺

From the studio wheel to the British Museum... 🧡🏺

I’ve been quietly working on one of the most exciting commissions of my career, and I’m thrilled to finally share it… I was asked to create a collection of handmade cups for the British Museum shop to coincide with the historic arrival of the Bayeux Tapestry in London!

Designing these meant diving deep into the medieval imagery of the embroidery, and the iconic narrative of the Norman Conquest. Every single piece carries a little bit of that 11th-century inspiration.

Thank you so much to the team at the British Museum for trusting a small maker like me. Having my work be even a small part of this massive exhibition is pretty surreal for my little archaeology nerd heart πŸ₯Ή

If you’re heading to London to trace the story of 1066 at the museum, make sure to look out for them in the shop! πŸ›οΈπŸ’›

Freshly back from a Hobbity hiatus having the most wonderful, wholesome time living my hobbity dreams out at the The Brandywine Festival UK.
Hazel Crocker, the potter of the East farthing, was in attendance! A very happy hearted hobbit here, and to all the kind lovely hobbits I shared the festival with, thank you! πŸ’šπŸΈπŸŽΆπŸ«–πŸ₯”

Normal pottery and history content resuming now. I'm off to my workshop to glaze some pots and get back to it.

Iron Age pottery living history day at Seven Lochs Wetland Park Drumpellier Park. Always delightful to share the love of archaeology and clay. Today's visitors make the cutest pots to take home too 😊 But that's this year's living history season largely coming to a close.
Workshop time increasing over the next while. πŸ’š

New workshop stool!!!! πŸ˜€ An exciting day to not be toppling backwards every time I sit on my old stool and the leg falls off πŸ˜‚

Many a happy day I'll spend potting away with my trusty stool made by the wonderful Danny Harling

What better way to procrastinate than do a silly little photoshoot with your new workshop stool 🀣

(Spy a snoozy Bog Dog in the workshop too 🐾🐾)

Right, to work now!

Definitely impressed with the creations of the participants, and we had lots of fun playing with local clay and prehistoric tools on the day πŸ”₯🏺πŸ”₯

On an absolute throwing spree lately. Medieval cups, and cups for exciting upcoming projects 🀫😁

Pict-ing about for the Celebration of the Centuries at Fort George over last weekend for History Matters Ltd with my fellow Picts: Alex, Nick and Amy.
We may have been fighting the blustery winds instead of the Romans, but great to see so much enthusiasm for Pictish history and archaeology from lovely visitors. And our tents survived the gusts! πŸ˜ƒ

Neolithic Pottery making day through Dunkeld Community Archive yesterday with a lovely group of enthusiastic potters working with local wild clay, natural tools and craft and history chats to fuel us, to create some fantastic beaker inspired pottery.

Clay cleaning, tempering, cordage making, coil building, and decorating. We did it all! Plus a tasty lunch break of course 😁

Looking forward to firing these and getting your finished beakers back to you guys! 🍯πŸ”₯ Thanks for joining me for the day.
