This Friday being the 15th of May (eek!), it is a traditional turning point of the gardening year in Germany, known as "Kaltes Sophie". The days leading up to this are often very cold (true this year), and frost is to be expected. After the 15th, frost is "not permitted" by the rules, so it's safe to plant out your tender seedlings!

Good job that our expert gardening producers have been super busy getting things ready for this week's market. We'll have an abundance of crops and flowers hardened off and ready to go out to ensure a bountiful crop later in the year, including:

Chard
Cucumber
Swede
Leek
Cornflowers
Sunflowers
Cabbage
Cauliflower
Broccoli

Come along and choose what you fancy - see you all there this Friday (15th) between 9-11.30am in the Lesser Hall.

If you're anything like me, you struggle to find interesting birthday gifts. Fear not! Cowbridge Country Market has a wonderful selection of handcrafted items for all the people you want to gift to! From silver jewellery to beautiful sewn and knitted items as well as a bounty of items with gorgeous artwork. With lots of summertime birthdays coming up, I'll be sure to browse the selection at this week's market on Friday 15th May (9-11.30am, Lesser Hall).

As well as all the lovely craft, we'll have our usual selection of savouries, sweet treats, preserves, breads and confectionary all made in our home kitchens using top quality ingredients. Plants and flowers will also be making a showing - why not come along and have a look at what's available this week?

Advance warning: three week gap between this week's market and the next one on 5th June (there are 5 Fridays in May), so stock up while you can!

With this glorious April weather, I'm sure that the last thing on your mind is to start cooking for any Bank Holiday get-togethers. Let us take the strain and do all the hard work for you!

At this Friday's market (1st May, 9-11.30am in the Lesser Hall), we'll have a wide selection of goodies to tempt you. Lots of savouries including sausage rolls, corned beef pasty pies, prosciutto & asparagus puffs and vegetarian offerings such as cheese and potato pasties as well as spanakopita parcels. Fill your picnic baskets or afternoon tea tables with homemade who meal bread, bagels, delicious cakes and pastries as well as our gorgeous home made jams.

Not only will there be all those tempting things to eat, we'll have lovely plants and flowers from our gardens as well as a huge range of handcrafted delights.

Can't wait to welcome you all along!

It's that time of year when rhubarb is at its very best - available and still lovely and tender. This week we're putting the spotlight on rhubarb and all of the exciting things you can make from it - cookies, cakes, traybakes, crumbles... the list goes on! We'll have a wide selection of items featuring our favourite springtime vegetable (yes, it's really veg!) but if you're not a fan, and lots of folks aren't, then we'll have a lot of our regular items which are strictly rhubarb free!

Come along this Friday 17th April (Lesser Hall, 9-11.30am) to see what's on offer and enjoy a cup of tea or coffee in our tearoom. A free sweet treat (cake or similar) with every hot drink, what a bargain!

Hopefully we'll have some more plants and flowers to brighten your garden and home and as usual, there'll be a lovely selection of handcrafted items to browse.

See you all there!

Not sure if you've noticed, but it's Easter this weekend (that seems to have sneaked up on us this year!) and our next market is on **Good Friday** (3rd April, 9-11.30am) so we're gearing up for all things Easter. Mini eggs are abounding and sprinkling themselves through our bakes (think Rocky Road, Welsh cakes, brownies... and more!), and I'll be getting up at silly o'clock on Friday to bake hot cross buns, fresh for market.

We'll also have a lovely selection of baked goods (including savouries!) if you're entertaining over the holiday weekend, craft items which will make lovely gifts as well as flowers and plants to brighten your homes and gardens.

See you all there!

Another successful market under our belts for 2026 (we seem to be getting the hang of this!) and not only did we have lots of our lovely regular customers who enjoyed the spring sunshine, we managed to attract someone famous!

Yes, head coach of the Wales women's national football team (Rhian Wilkinson https://www.facebook.com/rhian.wilkinson) popped in to get some supplies and support a local business - what an honour!

You may not be so well-known, but we treat all of our customers like superstars and look forward to welcoming you all along to our **Good Friday** (3rd April) market, 9-11.30am. See you all there!

After a wonderfully successful first market of 2026, we're fired with enthusiasm for our next market in 2 weeks (Fri 20th Mar, 9-11.30am).

As Easter is so early this year, we've also started taking orders for items you might want for the bank holiday weekend - see our order form below. You can get in touch by messaging if that suits you better, but we'd love to see you in person if you can make it!
