🪿A special and unique gift🪿🦆

Quack! Quack! Quack!

Hi Everyone,

I have so many favourite things that I just love. Things are so brilliant. I love so many things....

🎀Bows
🫖Tea (and teapots)
🐴Horses
🌼Daisies
🧺Baskets
👗Dresses (with pockets).....

The list goes on quite a bit longer ( I would definitely run out of space) but one of the most special things that I treasure are Ducks. I just think they are the most wonderful souls. They make me smile anytime I see one.

As a tribute to these completely amazing creatures, I handcrafted this picture of three little runner ducks and included a section from a poem by the wonderful Kenneth Grahame.

I created the wall hanging using a mixture of natural fabrics, cotton thread, Cotton webbing, vintage buttons and recycled poster board. For the frame I used three different colours from farrow and Ball paint collections finished with Rustoleum wax and a sealer.

I chose the colours so that the piece would look equally at home in a space created for a boy or girl.

It would be perfect as a one of a kind special gift.

The frame measures 35cm x 45cm and when hung measures 60cm from the bow to bottom of the frame.

This piece is now available to buy and I would love for it to find a special new home where it can be hung and cherished.

The price for this larger wall hanging is £40.

Please do get in touch if you would like further details or would like me to create a bespoke picture for your little ones space. I can create all manner of sizes and themes.

Hi Everyone,

Just a quick post to share with you an ikea side table, I upcycled using paint from the The Little Green Paint Company and a little sample of Cath Kidston wallpaper. The drawer pulls are actually upcycled green leather buttons!!!

This picture also features a blue spotted quilted reading bag that I created for a little boy in my village and Brownie, a knitted bear I made.

Folded on the seat of the chair is one of my patchwork blankets currently available for sale.

🐎Horsey Adventures🐴

Hi Everyone,

There’s another little character from my sewing room that deserves their own introduction — one of my handmade hobby horses.

This pony is a another wonderful example of how much I love giving old and forgotten materials a new life.

The base of his head is crafted from old oak floorboards that were being thrown away during the refurbishment of a farmhouse.

His stick is made from an old wooden broom handle, and he is lovingly stuffed with British wool.
His long, woolly mane is made from woollen yarn, while his bridle is crafted from Irish linen and finished with upcycled metal rings rescued from an old curtain pole. His wooden parts have been given a new lease of life with Annie Sloan Chalk Paint and varnish.

His head and ears are made from 100% cotton poplin created by a local fabric maker, Rose & Hubble. I love, love, love this Toile du Jouy print!

I would love for this pony to find the most perfect new home. I have this idea of him and his new child galloping through enchanted forests, across open fields and off on adventures that will be remembered for years to come.

This is really at the heart of what I love making — toys with a story, made from materials with stories of their own.

And there are still more creations from my summer sewing-room adventures to come… 🧵🌸
The flood of summer makes continues! I have so much more to show you.

🌸 Meet Marisol 🌸

Hi Everyone....Again,

And now, let me introduce you to Marisol… a very special, rather large ragdoll who has been keeping me company in my sewing room this summer.

Marisol is made from my linen and stuffed with British wool. What makes Marisol magical is her hair.

I knitted her a wig cap first, before carefully weaving in each individual strand of yarn to give her a wonderfully thick head of hair.

This means Marisol can change her hairstyle as often as she likes....plaits, ponytails, buns, ribbons and bows… she is ready for a lifetime of dressing-up adventures.

Her dress, underskirt and bow are all made from sustainably sourced 100% cotton, keeping her soft, natural and very much at home in the world of Iris Charles.

And when it came to photographing Marisol, I couldn't resist bringing along another much-loved character from my own everyday adventures… my beautiful red bicycle….who we call Charlie Chilli Pepper.

It seemed only fitting, really. This is the very bicycle I use to cycle to my local wool shop — Black Sheep Wools usually with a basket crammed full of yarn on the way home!

There is something rather lovely about seeing Marisol sitting there amongst the yarn, looking as though she has just been out gathering supplies for her next adventure.

More photos to follow.......

Meet Bluebell & Pepper

Hi Everyone,......only me… Kerry...again!

If you’ve been following Iris Charles for a while, you may recognise this little rabbit…

Bluebell holds a very special place in my heart because, in many ways, she is where my sewing adventure began.
When I first started sewing, I never quite imagined where a little rabbit made from linen would lead me. Designing and creating Bluebell gave me the courage to begin this completely scary brand-new journey.
She is handcrafted from yarn-dyed Essex linen, with her little dress, shoes and socks made from 100% cotton, and she is lovingly stuffed with British wool.
And now, after everything that has happened since then, its lovely to see her sitting here amongst some of the things that have grown from that first little spark of an idea.

Alongside her is Miss Pepper Mint, a beautiful woodland faerie princess who has flown into the Iris Charles story.

I created her as something to be played with for years to come and so decided to make her parent friendly too! Her wings are stitched to her dress which can be removed for easy washing!

Pepper is made from hardwearing slub linen and stuffed with British wool. Her hair is made from stonewashed cotton yarn, while her delicate wings have been quilted using cotton fabric and wadding.

And her little flower crown? 🌸
That was handstitched by me, especially for her. I have stitched the crown directly to her head so to make cleaning her easier.

There’s something rather magical about looking at these two together — Bluebell, who started it all, and Pepper, one of the many little characters who have followed her out of my imagination.

There are lots more little stories, creatures and handmade treasures waiting to be shared over the next few posts.

So, follow along with me as I turn the pages and show you what has been keeping me busy this summer.

✨ A Summer in the Sewing Room ✨

Hi Everyone,

This summer, my sewing room (and garden) has been a rather magical little place…

I’ve been busy dreaming up and creating new collections of handcrafted treasures, each one made slowly, thoughtfully and with a little story of its own.

There are going to be many posts over the coming days, as I finally have the time to share all of these treasures with you.

Firstly, lets take a look at Pal, a button-jointed Palomino Horse, lovingly made from yarn-dyed Essex linen, with wooden button joints, a beautiful Merino wool mane and tail, and a cosy filling of British wool. Pal, is the first horse that I successfully, designed and created hooves for. I cried a bit when I finally cracked it!!!!

Next, Brownie my hand-knitted Clown Teddy Bear, made from soft Merino wool yarn, complete with wool-felted accessories, a little cotton canvas hat and, of course, a filling of British wool.
He is the first bear that I have knitted.

I am so happy that I have discovered knitting. 🎪🧸

I have discovered the joy of woodwork over the summer and I’m proud of my vintage inspired folk-art aeroplane, made from various bits of wood I’ve collected. Hand-painted using a mixture of toy-safe paints from The Little Greene Paint Company and Annie Sloan. The plane would be perfect as an accessory piece or for play-time.✈️
And behind my little plane sits Buttons the Party Bear — a button-jointed bear made from wool fabric re-used from a vintage 1940s hat I had collected. His buttons are all vintage too, carefully saved from old clothing and given a new life.

His eyes are actually made from antique cufflinks which I twisted up with black linen (from an old M&S skirt!).

I’ve popped two cot-sized patchwork blankets into the photo. Both quilted together from a mixture of organic cotton and linen fabrics, with soft cotton wadding.

What I love most about making each of these pieces is that nothing needs to be entirely new to become something wonderful.

🧵🍓Angelina Ragdoll 🌼

Hi Everyone,

🎄On a quiet winter afternoon, with the light fading early and the house filled with the soft hum of Christmas, a little Ragdoll Angel came to life ✨

This is Angelina, a one-of-a-kind vintage inspired angel ragdoll, handcrafted by me as a special Christmas custom-order.

She is stitched from nature’s own treasures — cool linen and gentle cotton, filled with warm British wool, just as dolls once were. Her peachy skin glows softly, and her luscious strawberry-blonde hair falls like spun sunlight, ready for drifting between clouds and bedtime stories 🤍🍓

🧶Her wings are cut from beautiful Irish linen, soft as a snowfall, while her floaty, two-tiered dress and tiny slippers are sewn from the softest cotton lawn — fabrics chosen to be kind to little hands and kinder still to the world 🌍

Handcrafting bespoke creations like Angelina is at the heart of my work.

Each piece begins with a story, woven slowly under my hands, and is made to be treasured, passed down, and loved for generations. If you’re dreaming of a custom, cosy, eco-conscious keepsake made especially for a loved one, just send me a message ✨I'd love to hear from you.

Hi Everyone,

I created this sweet little mouse for a family who wanted to send a special gift to friends in Ireland.

Handcrafted from linen and cotton, and snuggled full of British wool, she wears a rosy pink dress and polka dot shoes. I stitched so much love into her little heart-shaped nose and I hope she sparks joy in her new family.

What do you think? Do you love her as much as I do?

Hi Everyone,

I’m so sorry for the quiet spell on here — it’s been the busiest summer and autumn in my little sewing room, creating lots of vintage inspired custom orders for the most wonderful families - I can’t wait to share with you 🧵✨

But today I wanted to introduce you to Emma, the sweetest little handmade doll who’s been keeping me company at my sewing table. She’s stitched from linen and soft cotton, dressed in a vintage-inspired pinafore with a Cath Kidston strawberry print blouse🍓🌸

I also wanted to share that I’ll have a stall at the Birchwood Park Christmas Fayre this weekend Saturday 29th November at The Engine Rooms, Birchwood Park, Warrington. I’d absolutely love to see you there! 🎄✨
