🐑🧶 What do Peter Pan, a Yorkshire wool company and Wool Month have in common? A rather magical little tale! ✨
It's nearly Wednesday, which means it's time for Clair's Wool of the Week! And with October being Wool Month, we couldn't let the occasion pass without celebrating some proper British wool, a bit of local heritage and a name you might recognise from a much-loved children's story!
This week's star is Wendy Pure Wool Aran – and there's more to this yarn than meets the eye! 💚
✨ Did you know Wendy Wools was named after Wendy from Peter Pan?
The company's roots stretch all the way back to 1898 in West Yorkshire, but the Wendy name was introduced in 1928. According to the company's history, Arthur Carter, one of its founders, personally knew Peter Pan author J. M. Barrie and even received his permission to use Wendy's name for the yarn brand!
Nearly a century later, Wendy remains a familiar name to generations of knitters and crocheters. A little bit of literary magic woven into Yorkshire's rich textile heritage! ❤️
And the wool itself is well worth celebrating too!
🐑 100% British wool – natural, renewable and biodegradable, with no synthetic fibres.
🍂 Warm and breathable – wool is a wonderful natural insulator, perfect for keeping cosy as the temperatures drop.

🪡 Lovely stitch definition – ideal for traditional Aran cables, textured knitting and crochet.

And because it's Wool Month, we've got a little something extra for our crocheters!
