What do I do with my scrap… well I definitely don’t weigh it in, I pride myself on trying to give everything in my workshop a second chance in life and my horseshoe orbs are made to be a statement peice 😃😱😜

I begin by preparing a clean digital drawing of the stag and loading it into the CNC plasma cutter, making sure the scale and cut paths are set correctly for 2 mm flat steel. Once the sheet is secured to the bed, the machine takes over, tracing the profile with precision as the plasma arc slices cleanly through the steel. The CNC allows for smooth curves and sharp detail, even in the finer sections of the antlers. After cutting, I remove the stag and lightly dress the edges to take off any dross, leaving a crisp, accurate silhouette ready for finishing or display.

I’m rolling rings in a roller bender using flat bar that i s 3 mm thick and 25 mm wide. Each ring is formed to a consistent diameter so they can be aligned and fixed together accurately. These rolled rings are then assembled at right angles to one another to create a rigid spherical jig. The jig acts as a guide and former, holding the horseshoes in position while I fit, shape, and weld them, ensuring the finished horseshoe sphere is symmetrical and evenly spaced.
