The Mirka Handy Sander – Great idea, but poorly executed.

On paper, this is a brilliant bit of kit. Dust extraction is excellent, it's lightweight and comfortable to use.
Unfortunately, one major flaw lets it down... it's made almost entirely from plastic.
During sanding, static electricity builds up in the body and hose, resulting in constant electric shocks to the user. On a long day, it becomes genuinely irritating.
For a premium-priced professional tool, I'd have expected Mirka to use conductive materials or incorporate a proper anti-static path through the handle.
It's a clever concept that just needed a little more thought in the choice of materials and overall user experience.
Has anyone else experienced the same thing?

Large-scale digitally printed wall mural installation completed for Sotheby’s.

Murals like this allow an entire wall to become part of the interior design, transforming the space by introducing artwork at architectural scale.

A small insight from a recent assessment of a period property in Blackheath.

Older buildings often carry several layers of previous repairs and coatings over time. In this case we discovered areas where exterior paint had begun to fail due to earlier repairs and incompatible materials being applied.

Buildings of this age behave differently from modern ones. Timber moves, traditional substrates need breathable coatings, and preparation is critical if decoration is going to last.
Good decorating always begins with understanding what lies beneath the surface.

Large format wall murals require careful setting out before installation begins.

When working at architectural scale, even small variations can affect alignment across the entire wall, so preparation and control are essential throughout the process.

This installation was completed for Sotheby’s, where large printed murals were used to create atmosphere around particular works of art.

Large open-plan spaces look simple once finished…
but decorating them properly takes careful preparation and planning.
Long wall runs, different lighting angles and natural light from skylights all affect how the finish appears across the room.
The goal is always the same:
a calm, consistent finish throughout the entire space.

Decorating problems often begin long before the new paint or wallpaper goes on.

Here, modern paint had been applied directly over distemper — a traditional chalk-based finish commonly found in older properties.

Because distemper remains soft and powdery, modern coatings struggle to bond to it. Over time the paint film simply loses adhesion and begins to peel away.

In situations like this the only reliable approach is to remove the unstable layers and deal with the substrate properly before any new finish is applied.

Wide-width vinyls demand space, planning and precise organisation so each drop can be measured, cut and prepared accurately before reaching the wall.

Specialist table systems allow the material to be handled cleanly and controlled across its full width ahead of installation.

Installing traditional patterned wallcoverings in large period interiors requires careful control and precision.

Across wide surfaces and at height, wallpaper will naturally try to twist and pull as it is positioned on the wall. What appears perfectly straight at the ceiling can easily fall out of alignment further down if tension and pattern control are not maintained.

Constant adjustment, careful handling and experience are essential to keep the pattern balanced throughout the room.

A pleasure to install such a beautifully detailed design.
