💎 CRYSTAL OF THE WEEK — RHODONITE 🩷🖤

With its beautiful pink colouring and distinctive dark veining, Rhodonite is pretty easy to recognise — and no two pieces look exactly the same.

🩷 Traditionally associated with:

• Compassion
• Self-love
• Forgiveness
• Relationships & friendship

🌍 Where is it found?
Rhodonite is found in several parts of the world, including Australia, Brazil, Madagascar, Russia and Sweden.

✨ Did you know?
Its name comes from the Greek word rhodon, meaning rose, referring to its characteristic pink to rose-red colour.

The black markings you often see running through Rhodonite are typically manganese oxides, giving it that gorgeous pink-and-black contrast.

We’ll be at the Bexley Eco & Wellness Festival at Lesnes Abbey Woods this Saturday, 5th September from 11am–5pm. 🌿💜

We’ll be bringing:

🌸 Wax melts in glass jars
🧼 Handmade soap bars
🌿 Shampoo bars in reusable metal travel tins
💎 Crystals & crystal jewellery
✨ Handmade resin gifts made using clear bio-based epoxy resin containing 50% bio-sourced carbon

Our candles and wax melts are vegan and cruelty-free too. 💚

There’s loads going on throughout the day, including folk music and singer-songwriters, drumming, dance, a finale parade, forest school, giant minibeasts, free yoga, meditation and gong healing, eco traders, a refill station, a giant clothes swap, food stalls, community organisations, wildlife charities, crafts and more.

It’s a completely free family event — no ticket, no booking, just turn up. 😊

🕯️✨WHY YOUR FIRST BURN MATTERS ✨🕯️

Did you know that the very first time you burn your candle can affect how it burns afterwards?

When you light a new candle for the first time, allow the melted wax to spread across most or all of the surface before extinguishing it. This is called the melt pool.

🔥 Why is the melt pool important?
If you extinguish your candle too quickly, it can begin to burn down through the centre rather than using the wax around the edges. This is known as tunnelling and can leave lots of scented wax behind.

✂️ Don’t forget to trim your wick!
Before each burn, trim your wick to around 5mm.

A properly trimmed wick helps to:
• Keep the flame at a sensible size
• Reduce smoking and soot
• Prevent a large mushroom forming on the wick
• Help your candle burn more evenly

⏰ And remember the 4-hour rule:
Never burn your candle for longer than 4 hours at a time. Don’t keep it burning beyond this just to force the wax to reach the edge.

Always place your candle on a heat-resistant surface, away from draughts, children and pets, and never leave a burning candle unattended.

🌗 THE LAST QUARTER MOON

We often talk about the Full Moon and New Moon, but what about the phase in between?

The Last Quarter Moon is traditionally associated with letting go, reflection and clearing the way for something new.

As the Moon gradually becomes darker on its journey towards the New Moon, some people use this part of the lunar cycle to:

✨ Let go of things that are no longer serving them
🧹 Clear and declutter their space
💭 Reflect on the past few weeks
💜 Release old habits or negative thoughts
🌱 Make space for a fresh start

✨ A SIMPLE LETTING-GO RITUAL

Write down something you’d like to release — it could be a worry, habit, thought or something you’ve simply outgrown.

Take a moment to acknowledge it, then tear up the paper and throw it away while saying:

✨ I release what I no longer need,
I make space for what is meant for me.
With gratitude I let it go,
And leave myself more room to grow. ✨

The Last Quarter Moon is Friday 4th September, so you can do this anytime over the next few days as the Moon continues to wane. 🌗

✨💎 DID YOU KNOW? 💎✨

Some crystals can actually fade or change colour if they’re left in strong, direct sunlight for long periods. ☀️

Some to be particularly mindful of include:

💜 Amethyst – prolonged UV exposure can fade its beautiful purple colour
🩷 Rose Quartz – may gradually become paler
💚 Fluorite – some varieties can fade with prolonged exposure
💗 Kunzite – particularly sensitive to light and can lose colour

That doesn’t mean you can’t display your crystals in a bright or sunny room. Just be careful about leaving more light-sensitive crystals in strong, direct sunlight for extended periods, especially if you want to preserve their colour.
