⚠️ Choosing a decorator? Please take 60 seconds to check legitimacy
I’d like to share something important for local homeowners, as there is growing confusion around accreditation and trust within the decorating trade.
Unfortunately, some firms are still using outdated or unauthorised Dulux Select Decorators logos on vans, websites and social media. This can unintentionally mislead customers into believing a business is currently accredited when it is not.
Being a Dulux Select Decorator is not a lifetime badge. It is an active, monitored scheme. Decorators must meet ongoing standards for workmanship, professionalism, insurance and customer care. If those standards are not maintained, the accreditation is removed.
✅ How to check if a decorator is genuinely accredited
The good news is that due diligence is very easy.
Homeowners can visit the official Dulux Select Decorators website and search for any company by name or postcode:
If a business is genuinely accredited, it will appear on the official register.
If it does not appear, it is not a current Dulux Select Decorator, regardless of what logo is being displayed.
🛡️ TrustMark – government-endorsed reassurance
I would also strongly encourage homeowners to look for TrustMark endorsement.
TrustMark is a government-endorsed quality scheme, supported by the Department for Business & Trade, and exists to protect consumers by promoting trustworthy, properly vetted trades.
A TrustMark-registered business has been independently assessed for: • Technical competence
• Proper insurance
• Fair trading practices
• Ongoing compliance
👷♂️ About RPS Decor
For transparency, RPS Decor is a verified, current member of both schemes:

✔️ TrustMark-endorsed business
I am also a Dulux Select Decorator Panel Member, involved in upholding standards within the scheme, and I know exactly who is legitimately accredited and who is not.
This post isn’t about criticising others — it’s about helping homeowners avoid unnecessary risk when investing in their homes.
High-quality decorating isn’t just about paint on walls. It’s about trust, accountability and doing things properly.
If anyone would like advice on what to look for when choosing a decorator, I’m always happy to help.
