Why is it called Phthalo Green? 🎨
“Phthalo” is short for phthalocyanine, the chemical family that makes the pigment so intense and lightfast. Phthalo Green is basically a modified version of phthalo blue, tweaked to shift it toward green. The long chemistry name was shortened—and the name stuck.

There are many colours that have odd names, but how did they get them?
Now we have the news that we can all travel to China without visas, let’s start with
CHINA WHITE

Why is the colour called China white? 🤍
The name comes from Chinese porcelain, not the pigment itself.
For centuries, Europe admired China’s fine white porcelain for its pure, cool, translucent look. When artists later developed a clean, porcelain-like white pigment (zinc white), they called it China white to echo that elegance and prestige.

In short: it’s named after the look, not the location. 🎨✨

They say that at the end of the year it’s out with the old and in with the new. But let’s not be too hasty, sometimes it’s good to keep hold of the old for a bit. Especially old prices!
