This is one of a pair of Scandi-style double standard lamps which I was lucky enough to be asked to repair.
The spindles and base are mahogany and the top section brass. Beautifully made. One brass part was bent from the lamp having fallen at some time but I was able to straighten this (so effectively that I couldn’t tell which one it was afterwards).
I replaced the internal wiring in the top section, adding an earth conductor for safety. The old Bakelite E27 lamp holders were replaced with brass earthed B22 units and new antique style braided flex installed, terminated in smart new black BS1363 plugs.
The Customer is delighted and has already recommended me to others.

Just look at this gorgeous table lamp! It’s reminiscent of the classic Tiffany-style lamps and I adore it. Did you notice the base glows too? It also has an inline dimmer. You will add your own choice of E27 base LED bulb but please make sure it’s dimmable.
I imported this from the continent and have had to completely modify the internal wiring to make it compliant with modern regulations.
I can’t hold onto it until the Deal Braderie (where I have booked a stall) because I really need the space.
PAT tested beyond IET requirements and ready for collection from Upper Deal. I’ll happily deliver to the surrounding area for free.
You won’t see another one like this for a long time…

There’s another illuminated globe 🌍 just arrived in the workshop! It needs a rewire and PAT test and then it will be listed for sale.

Come along to Dover Repair Café at Biggin Hall this Wednesday (29th), and make a mini wax wrap bowl cover to keep food fresh.

An easy way to mark and cut down your use of clingfilm in the kitchen 😀

Bring along your own clean, cotton fabric (or we will also have some available) and in a few minutes you can create a wax wrap to take away.

All of our usual fixing will also be taking place, as well as free refreshments while you wait ☕️🍰

Fixed this gorgeous lamp today for a new (but valued) Customer.
Replaced the manufacturer’s failed cheap barrel connector with a rugged type, supplied new switch mode power supply, reinforce cabling where it enters lamp and PAT test.
Please let me know how I can breathe new life into your lamp…

Chinese lantern style standard lamp with twin ES27 lamp holders fitted with modern LED globe bulbs. This lamp has a handy foot switch and has recently had all the wiring re-terminated and the plug replaced. The clever design allows the lamp to fit either up against a wall, in a corner or even in an alcove. It’s 24 cm square and 1.17m tall with a 1.9m flex.
This gorgeous lamp has been PAT tested and is ready for collection from Upper Deal or I’ll deliver free to the Deal area. I’m expecting it to go quickly so let me know if you’d like to be its next owner. Cat excluded!

Huge vase-type black standard lamp with black shade. Controlled by foot switch. Lamp holder replaced with metal safety BC22 holder.
Similar to units sold by Next.
It’s heavy and at 1.2m tall (30cm diameter) is an eye-catching accessory for any room.
Sold at this bargain price because I really do need the space due to the house being full of lamps!
