Last Friday we had the pleasure of hosting and her family for a special Birthday Celebration for her lovely mum!

It was a last minute arrangement but we were able to carve out some time for them to get together and make more than just memories 🧡

(Yeh is a corny line but it’s truuuuuue!)

They’re finally here!

You’ve been asking, we’ve been desperately trying to find the time in our calendars 😅

But we’ve done it! We finally have some dates in for a beginners Hand Building Class. 🎉

Nothing too crazy, just a nice little 2 week stint to dip your toes into. Plenty of time to learn the basics and techniques that can go a loooong way to getting you on your making journey 😌

Reduction Firing Results 🔥

James tested out our first Reduction firing at WEDGE on Sunday.

Reduction or Gas Kiln firing, is a firing process that limits the amount of oxygen available inside the kiln, affecting the chemical reactions that take place within glazes and clay bodies as they mature in the heat.

Firing in reduction creates a distinct range of effects and colours that can only be achieved through this process — and it’s what makes Reduction firing so exciting and often unpredictable 🤓

Let’s be honest, we all have a favourite mug but let’s be serious - the best mugs are handmade.

They just FEEEEEEEL better. You can feel the human in them, the nature of something that is handmade will always hold more magic than something mass produced.

Yeah ok, you can get “perfection” with mass produced… but is it perfection? Or is it just something that has been created with such a lack of character, passion or feeling, that all that’s left is the thing?

… literally an empty vessel, completely void of any skill, creativity, softness or even, imperfections, that make something different and therefore special.

A mug can be strangely human in a way, but that’s what makes them so much fun to make.
