Today is the start of British Flowers Week and we’re going to be celebrating British flowers on our social media all week!

It’s the perfect time to share some of our locally grown flowers from this season so far! Celebrating every beautiful stem, even the ones we can’t pick yet as the plants aren’t established enough and seeing our customers enjoying them too.

It’s fair to say that just one stem can transform a bridal bouquet especially when it’s a butterfly ranunculus or Icelandic poppy.

We are super excited to expand our capacity to grow cut flowers at the nursery as well as the flower farm. It does feel like we have another year juggling the building of the infrastructure with growing flowers but we are trying to be kind to ourselves.

We can’t wait to share more with you these week behind the scenes and also how we use British flowers!

We are absolutely thrilled with our new staging from which has transformed this area of our nursery! It has been perfectly timed with our dahlias and more tender plants coming out the polytunnels.

Our shelving perfectly fits our annual and perennial plants in 9cm pots which is a cost effective way to buy your plants to put straight into the garden.

We have to keep reminding ourselves we’ve only had the nursery 2 months and it will take time to put all our plans into place, but it’s very exciting! It already feels like home and it’s safe to say we have no regrets taking it on 🙌🏻

We’re open to the public Thursday to Sunday, 10-4 every week so come see us and check out what we’ve been up to!

It’s Dahlia time!! Our dahlias will be out on sale next Thursday (21st May) after the last frost date. We have over 600 dahlia plants for sale with 63 varieties to choose from!

They are a firm favourite flower for us, both in our gardens and as a cut flower 🌸

If you would like to take a look at what varieties we have available, we have a brochure available for you to look through at the nursery and we can email it over on request. You can pre-order to reserve your dahlias to avoid disappointment.

Today with the help of our families we managed to have a successful first ‘pick your own tulips’ event at our flower farm along with a stand at Holmesfield Market and have the nursery open too!

Our highlight of the day was a couple who said it was better than Amsterdam tulip picking! We might not have the quantity of a huge tulip field but we have beautiful varieties in a peaceful setting with great weather.

Today we had a very wholesome workshop with last years Flower Club members as a big thank you from us for their ongoing support. We are so chuffed they are all booked on for this years sell out Seasonal Flower Club!

From freshly picked farm tulips and fancy daffodils this morning, they made their spring bouquets after a nursery tour and lunch with a catch up. There was even a rare opportunity for them to pick butterfly ranunculus!

We wanted to create our Seasonal Flower Club as a space for people to come together, form friendships and enjoy the beauty of flowers as well as the outdoors. Seeing everyone catching up today and enjoying our new space was pretty special!

We will be adding more flower arranging workshops to the calendar for later in the year when we have all our summer flowers in bloom.

We have lots of plans for our barn in the future but for now it works perfectly as a rustic undercover area when the weather is a little unpredictable!

There’s something special about creative freedom and working with ingredients without a brief. The busier we get, the less “playing” we do with flowers but it’s definately something we want to find more time for!

From the beautifully scented Syringa (Lilac) to the paper thin Icelandic Poppies, we loved everything about this bouquet created by Vicky! It also included our favourite flower, Butterfly Ranunculus which we love growing as well as arranging with.

Were so excited for Flower Club this year, an opportunity to get creative with the loveliest group and experiment with seasonal flowers. We will hopefully add some more workshops to the calendar this year, so you can join in on the flowery fun too!

✨Wedding Wednesday ✨

This week we are going behind the scenes, sharing our floristry studio! Granted it doesn’t look this tidy everyday, it’s a space we love to work in. We renovated it last year for our floristry with purpose built storage and staging for our flowers. Everything has its place and being organised definately saves time.

We have built a collection of vases and vessels over the years, which mean we have more flexibility with what we can offer couples. We love experimenting with sustainable mechanics and one of our favourite possessions in our studio has to be our modular arch!

We love having our flower bar full of flowers for weddings, we can’t wait to see the colours and varieties change through the seasons 🙌🏻
